So... I bought somebody else's dead project parts. A pair of older Scout axles (D30F, D44R) with discs all around. The calipers are rusted and frozen up, and I got no idea what they are off of to replace or rebuild them.

There are no markings on the castings on the front caliper, save for a single letter "A" cast in.

The pads are stamped as:
BP1709FF 06M3 181638
BP1709FF 10M3 19367

The caliper brackets (front) are stamped what appears to be 3569 -- any idea what they might be from?

Any ideas on what I'm dealing with?

Thanks!

Post some pic's of the calipers

I'll do that tomorrow when I'm back in the shop.

It *could* have been factory discs on the axles...this is from earlycj5.com".

Most Scout 2 30 fronts were drum brakes but they could ordered with the heavy duty brake option which were disc brakes. Most Scout 2's from '72-'74 were drum brake 30's unless ordered with the discs. late '74 to early '75 with the 44 were disc brakes. I've seen some '74 and '75 Scout 2s with the 44 and drum brakes that were bone stock. I think it depended on what they had in stock at the time and what was ordered. I'm pretty confident that by '76 all were Dana 44's with discs.

I'll also see if I can find the BOM on the tube.

Just went out and checked the BOM. Could not read the rear axle. Front is 603283-1, which is a "1971 1/2-73 Scout I, II & Traveler" Standard diff, 3.73 ratio.

Good news....rears are an 85 Caddy Seville caliper.

Bad news....the Scout axle has a 4 bolt (1/2") flange on the end of the tube, and that's what the caliper bracket is made up for. My CJ axle has a 6 bolt (3/8") flange. Figure I got 3 options...buy the right caliper brackets, modify the Scout brackets, or drill the flange for 4-bolt. Anybody got ideas/opinions? Cheap is good.
