Can anyone tell me what this part is? It was attached to the under side of the intake manifold on a Mazda 626 2.5L. Two plastic boxes and the hoses.

These are called Vacuum Chambers, the green thing is a check valve. Usually they're used to store vacuum for use during a turbo boost. Is yours the GT or equipped with turbo?

No, not a gt or turbo. Those canisters broke apart as I removed the IM. They were dry rotted and crumbled. I bought a couple metal fuel filters and I'm going to try to cut them in half, gut them and tac/jb weld them back together. The Mazda chambers are 7o bucks a piece and special order through the dealership. What a pita.

Fuel filters are mostly empty space. I wouldn't bother gutting them as long as they will flow air both directions.
