How about a Relic Ride at URE?

I was on Expedition Portal a little while back and they had coverage of Relic Ride 2011 in CO. Basically it was a ride/weekend camping with only 1970s and earlier rigs and camping equipment.

So I was thinking this may be a cool idea for a ride here. 1970s and earlier rigs only one saturday at URE when it cools down a little. Im not posting in events just yet, I wanna get a feel for intrest and maybe discuss possible dates.

**EDIT**
October 8th is the date

let me see:
1950 willys...check!
white canvas tent...check!
lots of military surplus wool blankets and mess gear....check!
white gas burnin coleman lantern (single mantle)...check!
white gas burnin coleman stove....Check!
apropriate age...born 1966...check!
Hell,I'm game!

Not quit finished yet... But I like the way you are thinking!

if i was gonna be in the states i'd be in but i leave for deployment next week

I'd be down, could make it out there on a Sunday and meet up but probably wouldnt be able to camp though since I have to work sundays. :driver:

If this falls on a weekend that I'm off AND I can get my '54 3B fixed from the last ride I took in it, I'm definitely down for this. I don't have the vintage camping gear, though, and there's no way in hell I'm camping in a canvas tent and wool blankets.

Don't be hatin about the wool.I'm used to it since my other hobby requires me to wear a wool uniform and sleep outside under the stars. Most of the stuff I use camping (cooking, bedding, and such) is the equipment I carry reenacting. No red cups here, only tin will do for me.

what we need to do to that 3b to get it going?

I need a front main leaf because mine got a bit bent. I need a rear main leaf since it broke at the center pin. I need to swap in my new (original equipment) windshield frame and glass since I modified mine on a tree at URE last fall. Not a lot of work, but it's the time that I don't have. I'd like to rebuild the carb but I doubt that it will help with it starving on a incline. Falls Dam was an all out, wide ass open assault until about the upper 1/4. I was just hoping it didn't stall and force me to back the entire way back down.

wow almost all of us have work to do. Ive got to swap in my new to me wiring harness swap, hard tops, install windsheild wipers, modify and install new rollcage and a hand full of other stuff lol

btw old school camping gear is not required.....but it does get you cool points!!

do you have a handthrottle? It helps with mine.I also set my float a little deeper than the 3/8ths that was called for.Carb work is a never ending process.
