Hey guy's,
Finally starting to get some things done on my project and Im trying to budget in one of the important things, some roll protection. I'm an ok welder and do a lil fab work but this is something I'd rather leave to someone with experience. Im not looking for much just a simple main hoop with two down tubes. (see pic below) Just trying to get an idea on what this is gonna cost. Any vendors that dont want to discuss this in an open forum please message me. Im not looking for quotes I know prices could change between now and the time I have this done. Just trying to get a ballpark figure....

Thanks in advance

Not the whole bed just the tube work.

My experience is generally... whatever you can afford + 20%.

\nothing useful to add here but curious

tree fitty

Just so we're clear are you talking all fab, or just say bending and cutting, then you weld it?

Another idea I had was keeping the roll protection inside the cab. Is this feasible? Could enough strength be gained? (Pics are for mock up only) I like this look better but figure it's definitely gonna cost more.

I have no idea what offroad shops charge since I haven't used one in years but I've caught wind that its about $80 and hour. That can be stretched to a 4 hr job plus material 40' DOM @$5.50 ft. $320+$220... $540. Safe bet.

either.... I trust my welding but would probably just want it finished by whom ever built it, or at least fitted and tacked in place.

How big are you? Personally, I'd think that not having the bar inside the cab would be nice if you're a big guy.
Yes, just a vertical hoop can be strong enough to save your life in a roll, but yes it could bend. Adding diagonal across it would help. I guess it depends what you're planning to do here.

I know it's crazy and unheard of w/ Jeeps, and don't want to take this the wrong direction but personally I think a really tightly-fit exo cage on that would look badass.

Well, to ballpark:

$50-100 in materials
2-4 hours shop time @ $45-65/hr

This is assuming that significant fitment work is not needed on your vehicle, which of course could change things significantly.

You could do this, but not like what is pictured. Those bars attaching to the windshield arent going to do much. You could do a front cage kit and reuse the stock bar, but i would suggest redoing it all.

A B-pillar with diagonal bracing, some overhead bars, and A-pillar/downbars by the windshield. While a simple hoop and add alot of protection, a few extra bars can add a ton of strength.

LOL I'm short n fat... 5'11 225-230 Exo cages are cool but it would kill the look Im trying to achieve. Plus I want to be able to remove the top still. I'm a light duty wheeler. I like to follow everbody else and watch them, but I do want to have some ROP for me and my son. You never know when or where you might make that one mistake.

Yeah I figured it would have to have some downtubes by the wind shield. The stock bar is trash (was when I got it) probably going to go with the truck style bar b/c that sounds like 10x the amount of work
