On how to remedy this problem. It's a chevy d60 passenger side sping mount. The bolt hole had been tapped out to a larger size and it broke the side out of the casting. I've got a couple of ideas, but I'm open to all before attempting to repair it.

U-bolt from underneath?

I don't remember off the top of my head what the bottom side of the Chevy casting looks like... but I imagine there's a rib on the underside large enough to drill a ~3/4" hole through. Slip a 5/8" U bolt with a 4" to 4.5" radius through the hole you made, flip it right side up, and bolt it on like normal.

That's what I did with a Ford, anyway... of course they don't have the threaded holes on top like the Chevies.

Throw the leaf springs in the garbage and link it, lol.

Man...thanks for the offer...when should I drop it off?
This is my Amy's temporary ride until her sammi is done, not throwing the wallet at it just yet.

You can drop it off at my house, but it will just sit there like my cab truck that also needs to be linked in the front, lol.

Seriously though. Do it on the cheap with Volvo joints. Patrick has 8-10 Volvo joints he isn't using. JT is the master with those, and could link it for you.

Man, I got nothing on how to fix that other than doing what Shawn suggested with the U-bolt.

I made some calls...did some digging and found a kit offered just for this problem that includes a new spring plate and U-bolt.

I'd weld it up and redrill it.

I think it would work better if you could thread a plug in it & slowly weld it so as to not build up to much heat on that cast.

Then maybe you would have a shot with the drill.

3 ideas come to mind. Based on how "temporary."

1. Dress the hole as much as possible and weld in a threaded insert. They are available in the heavy wall variety that may be able to with stand the welding better than a standard one. Also, there is the welding carbon steel to cast trick...

2. Drill and tap a new hole in the flat above the damaged hole. Make a new spring plate out of 3/8" plate to line up.

3. use the kit...

Good luck. If you use the kit, post up a couple of pics please.
