i dunno which way to go i got a 6in lift and rockstars w/36's on my 2002 gmc z-71 and a guy wants to trade me a 14" ipr lift and 39.5 irocks on mickey's classics 2. but i had planned on doing a dana 60 out of a ford before this come up. all he wants me to pay for is half the swap i duuno which way to go and need a lil help swaying me one way or the other

ifs sucks

You will get a better ride with SAS going up that high compared to ifs, plus you elimintate tons of weak points. There really isnt anything weak about a d60. If you want to go that big, SAS and coilovers would be the way to go, as it would still ride good on the road. When I did my previous chevy it got SO EXPENSIVE doing 12 inches and axleswaps. I had to buy new driveshafts, and other little things that added up exponentially like brakes, lines, tires, rims etc. Dont rush yourself into it if you are planning to do it on a budget...

Not tryin to be mean, do what makes you happy with your truck. But...

Jacked up IFS trucks a lot of the time make me laugh. Hard. Depends on what you're after, I think rockstars, and things like 14" of lift are hilarious. All show and no go as it were. Nothing like dropping all that coin to have a slick lookin rig that will got shown up by beater jeeps or yotas offroad.

But if you're not gonna be wheelin it hard, what's the point of the SAS anyways? If you just want it to look more aggressive, go for the 14" lift and 40s. I didn't even know you could lift IFS 14" without getting into problems.

Just my .02 worth...... it's a build, doesn't have to be a rock crawler or muddin machine, to each his own, build it, don't buy it and enjoy. I have a nice Mustang but I don't race it.

i dont wheel hard but sometimes i get the urge to hit a mud pit every now and again and my plans are to go 44 or 48 and still drive it not daily but a good bit.

SAS

I say if your just trading straight up go with the IFS. All of the parts should be there for everything to work properly. If that sucks then just go with the SAS. It is going to take a while to gather parts and get everything ready to install.

Agreed, that's why the first thing I said was to do what makes him happy with his truck. The rest is just my opinion.

Your nice mustang probably looks fast and IS fast. An IFS truck on 48s will only look tough.

I think the chevy steering would grenade just being in the same room as some 48s...

What I was getting at earlier with the beater jeep/yota comment was that he could probably just buy a decent beater to mud in for less than an SAS would cost him.

Muddigger, if that lift height and tire size just has to go down, I think paradisepwoffrd is bang on. Go rocks or 60 and make something that's actually badass, not just something that looks the part.

you will be to scared to drive 48s on the road. My 44s scared me so bad I tried to sell it as soon as I finished it all. I got over it, but it took like a month to actually like driving it. Plus I had a 60 mile ride in it every day or the shittiest roads which didnt help. Good luck
