would a ifs 4x4 hold up on a toyota for a trip to URE once or twice a year on 35s. I dont wheel hard just wondering what yall have tested or what yall are still runing i dont wheel to much but like mud sometimes.the truck is already lifted Thanks for yalls help

W/o a locker, no problems.
If you can afford the clearance (I'm assuming this must have a 3" body lift or bracket suspension lift), un-crank the t-bars so the arms flex a little more and don't sit at such a harsh angle most of teh time, that will help too.

ive allways locked it up and only had one failure(which was all my fault for doing somthing stupid). It can be wheeled very dependable locked or unlocked on 35's if you lay out of the gas untill your wheels are stright..... when stright they have decent strength....Just take care when turning and giving gas. It also has alot to do with how you wheel.

Open front and locked rear IFS toys will run all over URE without issue. I used to wheel a 99 4runner on 33's locked rear and it went all over Uwharrie, Mountain City, Crozet, Harlan, Tellico and others. I had a fairly heavy rt foot at times as well.

I brokw a ring gear open open with bald 35" x terrains..I have spares for you. I say beat it and have fun. Just know how to fix the stuff if it breaks

i have an 88 4runner ifs, running 33's that is locked in the rear and has no problems at uwharrie. Even when it was open/open it did pretty well

I've got a buddy (Stankoma on here) that is running an ARB in the front of his ifs tacoma. he's broke a cople of half shafts. but with the right tools it can be changed out in 15-20 minutes. You also have to have a spare, but he bought a heavy duty one and hasn't broke it yet.

Old man emu lift. ARB locker. Not sure the brand of half shaft.

I'm running a lockright in the front on my '89 w/ 5.29s - no problems thus far... but I'm running 32" ATs (keeping the tires light) and an judicous on the skinny pedal.
Actually I have an e-locker rear; since I put the lockers in, 90% of the time I just use 2wd and only engage transfer when really necessary, and that's most often only b/c I need low range.

If you want to limit your chances of breakage, then a limited slip differential would be a nice compromise - not really every fully locked, but better than nothing. I think maybe Detroit TruTracs come in a 7.5" size.
Or if you want a full auto locker, there's aussie, Detroit, or LockRight in order of price (highest to least) and same w/ road manners but reversed.

Do you have manual hubs? If so, when they are unlocked you won't even know it's there.

However, please keep in mind thee warnings above - if you plan to run 35s, locking the front creates a dangerous situation....
