Ignition to starter problem

I'm having a problem with my jeep starting. We've narrowed it down to something wrong between the ignition to the starter. Any ideas?

May help to know what we are working on? 1949 Willys or 2012 Rubicon?

what he said, and to be clear by ignition you mean the key switch...or the coil.

Yes, if you can start it at the starter, but not with the key, I know the problem. You have a broken pot metal piece in the column, between the lock cylinder on the right side, and the ignition switch on the left side. You need Dorman part number 924-704. If you need more details, pm me with a number I can call you at tomorrow.

Clutch switch or neutral safety switch perhaps.
