I'm back with another yota and still waiting for the insurance company to pay me for my last 4runner. OK, I picked up a 92 4runner with 262,000 miles for 1100.00 . My problem is when I get up to 50 mph and the truck starts to shake. The tires are bald and the rear axle leaks. I check the rear axle for play and it seems fined the drive shaft has a small dent. Would the tires cause my problem or should I check somewhere else. When I let of the gas I feel it more... Thanks for any help and I gues I should have keep my winch and tires after the wreck with my 88 4runner.:huggy:

i'd deff suggest doing the tires first
i mean, if they're bald...you need new ones either way.

if that doens't fix it, take it in for an alingment.

i mean....there's really not that much it could be:
1. tires, most likely
2. alingnment, prob not..but always good to get for a street truck
3. drive shaft causing vibration, you did say it had a dent......possibly is out of balance.

other than those things....there's not much that'll do that, other than say.....a tranny, but it seems as though there'd be some other signs as to a bad tranny than just a vibration

^^x2 it doesn't take much at all for a diveshaft to be out of balance. A good trick for someone that has pissed you off is to put a couple lines of sticky tire weights on their driveshaft. But since it needs tires anyway, you gotta do that first.

Well, if tires are bald, those MUST be replaced especially if you plan to tow your boat.

While its in there have your alignment checked. Most tire places will check for free if done with a tire install.

As soon as thats done test drive, if its still there. You have done no harm and have just put on tires that you needed and had an alignment that will protect your rubber investment.

Then its on to Dshaft and steering components.

From there you get into more Dr. House type diagnosis (es?)
