1976 Jeep CJ5 with the 258 and T150 3-Spd. During my rebuild I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, resurfaced the flywheel, new clutch linkage (bellcrank, rods, adjustment screws etc). I did reassemble the clutch disk and throwout bearing in the correct directions as well.

Now on my first startup this week, I can push the clutch in and its like its not disengaging. When you try to put it in gear it just grinds as if I werent pushing the clutch in at all. I adjusted the clutch what looks to be pretty far out on the adjustment screw, and the same thing is happening.

Any ideas on what may be going wrong?

did you put the clutch disc in properly? one side is flat, one side is not, the flat side faces the flywheel.(usually marked "flywheel side")
did you check the heights of the bearings next to each other?
was the fork installed correctly?

what does the pedal feel like?

Flywheel was correct, bearings were the same, fork correct.

Pedal feels stiff, no freeplay before you press.

Oh yeah, that was correct as well. Would only go in one way.
