Looking to get in to a used wrangler. I have about 7k to spend and came across this website and thought "Hey, these people must be experts and therefore might be able to tell me some things about a wrangler I should know" Forgive me if I am presumptious,...or if I am taking too much liberty here. I am in Chapel NC....There is a Jeep available in Rougemont for 6300K, a 97' auto, 31" tires (a lot of tread left) has 137k miles, is in great condition (minus a rip in the driver seat) well maintained, all records available. IS that a fair asking price?
Again I apoligize if I am over stepping bounds here

New too..

Selling the car I bought for my wife (and now I drive because we now have kids and a van) and am looking to get in to a used jeep wrangler. I posted one I came across here in swap meat forum. Anyway, I am in the very beginning stages and looking forward to owning one of these vehicles...

Hi Greg, welcome to the site. Most of us here are not "experts" by any means but we do have a lot of experience with various makes of rigs and off roading in general. Maybe someone else familiar with TJs will comment on your particular find. In the meantime, look around, read and learn, enjoy. Again, good to have you on board!

threads merged, and relocated,

Welcome aboard

what other specs ? 31s on a 4cyl might be a bit underpowered for DD driving but just fine w/ 4.0L (or if its been regeared etc)

How's the top and everything else? Any maintenance or significant repairs ?

In great condition ? becasue that's how it's advertised or what you saw when you looked at it?

Roughmonut is only 30-45min from you I'd make a trip to look with NO money, its not a bargan at that price but could be a fair price depending on the condition etc..

as yeager says, not a steal by any means. take your time before buying a wrangler and know what you intend to do with it. If you are just interested in a dd, then pay special attention to make sure the jeep has not been in a bunch of mud. If you want a trail rig, look for proper upgrades.

Has not been off road (other than where he lives, dirt roads up there) Is a 6 cyl, and I have seen it and it appears to be in very good condition, interior is well maintained, no apperance of leackage under the hood or vehicle. It has a clean title as well..(according to carfax)

Thanks for the input

Greg

PS. what is a dd?
