They have the ability to sound like they’re coming from everywhere. Impossible to narrow the sound down to a location in the room.

It was singing last night and I looked for it several times. I found it was in my man cave but I couldn't find it. I narrowed it down to the area and it stopped chirping. As soon as I left the room it was chirpin again. Did that dance 3 times and gave up.It stopped before bed last night and no sound this morning, but it's singing as I type right now. The missis tried to find it tonight and wanted me to remove it,then I told her it's good luck to have a cricket in the house.She's gonna play the lottery and some scratch offs tomorrow !
