What a day yesterday was! Wife and I got up a 4:30! Showered and did some finals on the Cart and Yukon in preparing it for URE. Jumped in the car and raced to my dad's house(6am) and drove to Greensboro Airport to meet his Gaurdian for the Flight of Honor to DC! We were overwhelmed at the reception that was already there. We were interviewed by channel 12WXII, He was hugged and kissed by three girls dressed as USO gals, pictures were taken by everybody!
Finally he was taken to the plane and we raced back to our house to grab the Cart and run to URE. Arrived at the Outpost around 9:00 and seen a few people and grabbed a Tenderloin biscuit and ran to the meeting with the volunteers and on to the DP to set up. Lot's of friends came by, even a club from Virginia( sorry I can't remember the name). Late in the afternoon we heard some thunder coming through the trails! Only to realize it was the BIG DIXIE BOGGERS! We were just about to pack it up but we had to feed the club! We got them fed and then the volunteers showed up and we fed them also.
Then we packed it up and hauled a$$ home to shower and jump into the car to run back to the airport!
We arrived at 7pm to another amazing show of respect and honor that has to be witnessed to understand! Finally with band playing ,flags waving, signs a shaking, people cheering, they were there! I spotted my father being rolled down the isle by his Guardian shaking hands with hundreds of people literally! He had lipstick kisses on both cheeks! Smiling and crying and was the happiest I've seen him ever! His Guardian insisted that I cross the ropes and finish bringing him through the isle! He was so excited and also wore out. We finally made it home a little after 11:30 after a day to remember forever! With memories and friends, I'm the luckiest guy I know!

The LAST flight for NC is next month, if you would like to witness something truly amazing. Go and attend this and pay tribute to the men that was a part of history! I spoke to many people that were in attendance that did not have any family or friends that were on the plane! They were there just to welcome the veterans home! As it should have been done long ago.

Sounds like a great day.....thanks to you Dad & his generation who did so much!!

What a day for ya....I bet it was exciting! Props to you and ur dad!!!!

The BDB had our 3rd annual SGK breast cancer walk, it was a huge success. Had a blast! Makes you feel good to do things for a great cause....

Who did the thunder? BTW....lol

Just a little writers freedom of the press so to speak! No really we were closing down and heard motors coming our way! Knew we were going to be behind as far as feeding a bunch of hungry Boggers but we did our best to catch up. Even though we knew we would be pushed to arrive at the airport on time. (Cart pulls great at 90+!)
