im thinking about buying a xm radio

Justin, I have one in my patrol vehicle. I love it! got a deal on it too.....free from a friend that had several and no use for this one! Nice!
You'll love satelite radio!
 
I recomend getting a portable one and a hard wired car kit for it. Transmitting it over FM waves does it no justice

Yea, going over FM brings the suck.
Not quite as bad if you at least inline it with the antenna, but it's still not great.
I would really just recommend a whole new after market HU though, they are cheap enough, and then you just have the one thing.
Down side, you can't carry the unit with you. But you can listen over the computer.
 
I've decided that I just can't live without satellite radio after driving my wife's car that doesn't have it for the last week. Local radio just flat out blows 99% of the time.

To the OP, just go wherever you can get a unit cheaper. I'm using an old Roady II. Got it free from a friend. If you happen across a unit, you can get all the accessories from http://www.myradiostore.com/

I use my one unit on several different vehicles, including my MC, just by getting a few extra antenneas and cig lighter adapters. All of the stuff is hardwired into the jeep, though.
 
I love my sat radio. now that xm/Sirius have combined it is pretty much one in the same. I have Sirius in my truck and XM in my car. My accord came from the factory ready for the satellite radio i only had it about a week before i decided that i had to have it. for the truck i have a portable unit that i really like, i need to get a new antenna and what not so i can take it out and put it in my boat! AM/FM blow. There is nothing like hearing music when you want to hear music. Don't get me wrong you'll have to change stations ever now and then because there will be a song you won't like but you won't have to change it because of commercials/endless chatter
