I was not a happy camper seeing that. I would of asked him a few things like the Ranger Creed and WTF was his tab ?At that rank in a BN he will be tabbed.

I just don't understand why people do this. How could you not feel like a complete dickhead?

I work in a DoD research lab, but 98% of the people here onsite are civilians. Every now and then, we have do set up a photo shoot or video highlighting some of our cool facilities or latest technology, PR stuff. Often they want it to look like Soldiers using things, since they are the ultimate target audience. Whenever possible we'll get guys in uniform to stand in, but often they aren't available, so we have a couple of guys that are clean-cut enough that they put on a uniform (we keep several on hand) just for the shoot. Always very careful they look proper.
Even that bothers me (us), and we worry that some random photo will end up in the press somewhere and somebody will figure it out. We at least try to use retired/former servicemen to dress up.

I just don't get how anybody would not realize how awful that is, aside from having a bona fide mental disorder or dysfunction.

Not that I'm a shining example of physical fitness, but I could kinda tell by his "physique" that he was NO Army Ranger. My niece's husband in stationed at Fort Campbell (currently getting ready to move back to Alaska and possibly deploy AGAIN soon after that) He is in possibly the best physical shape he could be in and Ranger School was still a lot to handle.

From the looks of it, he was no more a soldier than my 5 year old son is when he puts his camouflage pants on and plays army. I own some BDU's that I wear when I'm working on stuff because they are straight out durable. Nobody would ever mistake me for a soldier in them, though...I wouldn't let them even if they tried!

My bro-in-law is an Army Ranger, no way that guy could have handled Ranger school. My BIL is a textbook example of fitness, and he said it was really damn hard.

I have not served (couple of physical ailments kept me out, I tried though) but have a lot of family who has. People who do this shit make me sick.

I've known several and they NEVER bragged or talked much at all about their service. I recall they all were always calm and mostly quiet and soft spoken. They are a different kind of badass and I know I would never have made it into that circle no matter how hard I tried. One was 5'6 and could do a roundhouse and touch an 8' ceiling w his foot..... stoned. I'm sure he could kill w only his pointy finger if he wanted to.
