Ok, im finally getting ready to make my pump hanger on my fuel cell..

I'm gonna make a support/shelf for the bottom of the pump like GM does.

Will the outlet hose and clamps be enough to keep it in there? Or should I attach it to the hanger rod ?

If so, will a hose clamp damage the pump or should I put something around the pump ? (thinking some clear vinyl hose or something that won't fall apart or delaminate over time.. )

or am I over thinking this ??

You? Overthinking it? Not you, Mister I-want-to-make-my-own-fuel-cell-instead-of-just-buying-one! :flipoff2:

I think you'd be fine with a hose clamp around the pump and the hangar rod.

Wht don't you just use a external pump? that is what Use on my J10 SBC TBI. it is from a Datsun 280z It works great

Mine uses a metal rod bent into what looks like a long square u-bolt. Top is about 1.5" wide, legs are the depth of the cell. Made out of galvanized 3/16 or so rod. Has a washer welded on top to hold it to one of the bolts on the filler neck. Uses two hose clamps around the body of the pump and the two legs of the "u-bolt"-3 years, no problems.
