I am looking into a Jeep in Indianapolis for my girl friends daughter. She found a this Jeep and before we take the 8 hour drive up there and feel committed to buy it I’m reaching out to see if anyone lives up there or is going there within the week to take a quick peek at it.

Being it’s from up north I’m worried about rust damage.

‘11 2 door wrangler with ~150k mi lifted with add-ons. Exterior looks clean. $11.5k

It's gonna be rusty as fuck.
This, welcome to rust hell.Fuel and brake lines, emergency brake cable will probably be on their last legs regardless of what the rest looks like.

Not for me. For my lady’s daughter. When it got sent to me that was my first thought. Rust rust rust. I was hoping we had a member in that area to put eyes on it. As long as the body/frame doesn’t have a lot of rust MAYBE but looking at the which i doubt it

Looks like a few mods done to that JK. One piece of advice a friend gave me is that most people that own jeeps do their own wrenching on mods. And lets face it, not everybody is a mechanic. This is truly my opinion, but I would find her one that was unmolested.

DO NOT BUY AN '11! They are a bastard year, new interior bad drivetrian. I know of a 2012 2 door auto sahara about to be for sale, unmolested, it's idea of "off-road" is a gravel road! PM me for more info, it will be more $ but the man has always kept nice cars.

Good to know. She’s looking for a manual for what ever reason. But I’ll pass the info along. What color?

I used to live in Indy, still have quiet a few friends that wheel. I’ll reach out tomorrow and see if any are willing to go look. But I agree with the general consensus. Avoid northern vehicles and buy local if possible.

There are companies that offer this service for a fee. You contract them to inspect a vehicle for you, some will even arrange shipping. I had a buddy that bought cars out of California and would hire them for inspections before he'd buy anything. Sorry, but I don't have more details.

The people that bought my wife's 4runner paid for a pre-inspection. The inspector and I had a nice time chatting about cars for 2 hours while he looked it over. He was very thorough.

No fucking way I would buy a vehicle from the north.

I moved from up North with a truck that was up there just 5 years, brake lines rusted out, sending unit fell apart, drilled out bolts to change shocks, and that was just the maintenance items not to mention the body panels having cancer all over them and rattling when you close the door.

Bought my Fathers 5 speed GMC Truck, was one of the last years you could still get a stick in a 1500. Same thing even with the good price I'd never buy another vehicle from up north.

Luckily the Jeep sold and I wolnt have to mess with it. Time for them to keep shopping g
