Dylan put one together last year and from what I hear it was a blast.
So, what I'm proposing is to do something similar. However, it will be sponsored by ECORS!
ECORS will put up the trophies for the top 3 and give away some shirts and swag...
So, how do you win?
I'm working on a package deal with a local Charlotte/Mooresville karting venue (The Pit) to have 4 races per person. We'll score the finishing order and add up the points after the 4 races. The top 3 get the trophies and an ECORS shirt.
We need about 30 to make it worth-while. If we have 30 people racing, the 4 races can get as low as $65 or so per person, maybe less. Keep in mind, this will give us 2 hours of exclusive racing of just us! Nobody else will be there racing during this time, so we'll have the place to ourselves. They will have people there but the kart course and the karts will be ours 100% of the time for 2 hours. With 30 people, thats just enough time for each person to get 4 races in each. Each race is about 10 laps. This is during the week and can happen anytime from 6pm on to as late as needed. They typically close at 10pm but can go later if needed. I would guess somewhere from 7-9 or 8-10 would be good so its not too late during the week.
The price would be about $65 per person. While this isn't a huge price savings when considering their normal pricing, you won't have to purchase a $15 membership and we'll have the track to ourselves for 2 hours, so you won't have to wait in line and fight others that aren't associated with us.
Food is all on you, drinks are all on you. I'll tally up the points and we'll meet up in their conference room (or someplace that works) and hand out the awards!
Really, its just all good fun and there are no $$$$ prizes, just trophies and a couple of shirts, maybe a koozie and maybe a hoodie. If someone else wants to toss something else in the mix, thats cool too. Its a way that anyone on NC4x4 (and beyond) can go out during the week and have a couple hours of good fun. I'm even planning on racing! Finally, I get a chance to get behind the wheel!
Bring the family, bring friends, etc. Remember, its open to anyone so long as they meet the requirements to ride the adult karts. The numbers listed above are for racing only. If you have family that isn't going to race, they can come and there wouldn't be any costs associated with them.
What I'll most likely do is open up an online registration form through our ECORS website with payment options. The facility wants 1 payment and I'll take on that role so long as everyone pays up front. If, for some reason, we don't get the numbers we need, I'll refund the payments 100% and there will be no lost $$$.
Schedule: I'm thinking on a Wed or Thurs. I realize school is back in, but let me know what works best for everyone. At this time, it looks like Sept. 19 or 20 would work OK for the venue.
Minimum numbers: We can have 20 people, but the cost will go up per person. Expect about $75 per person if we have just 20 people racing. 30 is the max we can handle with the cheapest cost. Any more beyond 30 and, to get 4 races in, we'll have to have the facility for an extra hour. So, that would bring the cost per person back up to the $75/person range.
I'm up for it. I'll be working in Charlotte for a few weeks, so I'm always up for a good time.
Thoughts? Sound interesting?
