interesting fire video from a security camera

Holy hell no. That FD was pretty awful. Ventilation on the roof without SCBA. No guard on the saw. Guy almost falls off the roof. Fire attack uncoordinated. 2 FF? On the engine. Water supply via 2.5". Engines blocking the ladders access to the front of the structure.

Man I would be pissed if they covered my house

I try not to Monday morning QB other agencies because Lord knows mine aren't perfect, but the only thing I can really get behind you on is the FF's doing ventilation. The need for vertical ventilation is questionable in my opinion, but since they were up there they obviously needed a roof ladder due to the roof type, and I would've stayed on air. Not sure what you mean by guard on the saw, unless you mean a depth gauge like some departments use on dedicated vent saws. We don't use them. Hard to tell how many FFs are on each engine because the video kept skipping around too much, but I *think* I saw at least 3 come off each unit. If there were only two then that is definitely less than optimal but sometimes it happens in smaller departments. I've done two men and a truck more than I care to admit. The first due Engine could have pulled up a bit more, but the Ladder had plenty of room to operate on a two story house. Water supply didn't look to be an issue, there was plenty of water to put out the fire, and it looks to be bigger than 2.5 in the pics. Just my opinion, obviously yours is different. But I have seen much worse performance by supposedly much better departments.

oh i see more clearly now. still could have gotten out the other one.

Description said the older couple inside was sitting in the LR. Had no idea the house was burning until a neighbor went in. Cars probably lit by then. They were in their 90's...

Still new to FF, so I cant say a wole lot. But...

I definitely would have still had my SCBA gear on while on the roof.

We dont have an aerial, so cant comment. Our biggest problem is that EMS and rescue want to park right behind our first due, and block the tanker.

Being a volunteer dept, if we can have 2 guys roll on a truck out of the station, were doing great. Everyone else goes to the scene. I think the only truck with more than two seats is our primary first due, and it only has 3.

That sucks.

I gather the camera is computer controlled and seeks out motion then follows?

Really good images too! This model should be in that other thread.

LOL why does the camera zoom in on the chick with the tight shorts on for a little bit.

That sucks.

Yeah the description on the video says what camera it was that it auto tracks movement. Definitely looks like a good cam.

Terra cotta sucks and should not be a roofing material. Fire attack looked good to me. It's not my shit and the people were out, so I'm not going to dedicate resources to the interior. Surround and drown. I wouldn't have vertically ventilated it. The guys on the roof needed an actual roof ladder, or to be working from a platform. The SCBA use was their call, but I'd have mine on. That clusterfuck of kinked hose line is a concern. Water supply was adequate for the hoses deployed. There's my Tuesday afternoon quarterbacking. Haha!

As for roof operations...

...with all the car traffic at first, it needs Benny Hill music to start.

According to description, rounds are cooking off in the garage....guy gets popped in head by a casing at 2:48.

I loved watching the UPS driver. Like, "yeah, I know that house is in fire..... but I gots sh!t to deliver."

What made the two kids run away at the beginning of the video? There were no visible flames at that point and no one appeared to be looking at the house to have seen anything to cause them to yell to the kids to run....

And why the hell don't convenient stores and public places have cameras this nice? I mean i have surveillance cameras at my house with this quality video and they were cheap! It'd save a lot of police work and catch a lot more criminals.
