Interior cage in 90s Toy

I have a chance to get a pretty good deal on one of the bolt-in interior cages for an ext cab 89-95 Toy pickups.
I'm not a big guy by any means, but I'm a little leery of the loss of space. The "back seat" is already tiny, occasionally my son rides back there... how bad are they in this respect?
Not dying to cage it yet but the price is right.
 
Hm, apparently it's an old Smittybilt cage? not quite like the ones Marlin and 4x innovation sell now, it doesn't have a central bar (s) connecting the front and back, just the ones on the sides along the door top. Never seen one like this, very basic. Hm.
