Looking to get some feed back on an idea I have floating around in my head. I've seen a handful of builds popping up on different forums of Jeep converision to pickups with a seperated cab and bed i.e. Brute type builds. I will be building my version of this over the winter/spring using my
CJ5. But it will be very different from the Brute.
I think this vehicle is something I would like to bring to market as either complete kit form, seperate kits (bed kit, top kit, roll cage kit, etc.) and partial or complete turnkey package builds.
The first parts/builds will be aimed toward CJs and YJs, since TJs already have a hand full of options, but im sure atleast the bed I intend to build would be easily adaptable to TJs and other vehicles as well.
I'm going to hold off on design specifics right now (b/c Im paranoid someone will steal my ideas, lol) I would just like to get a feel of the water on this idea right now. I know the economy right now will have a damper on starting a buisness venture of this nature, but I belive I can still find out if there is enough interest to persue this in the near future.
So lets here some thoughts/feedback, thanks guys
And some points addressed brought up on another forum:
As far as the cab rear panel it would work for cj5 cj7 etc. A seperate one would be worked up for the yj. I belive Ive seen the Aqualu bed, it looks similar to just a seperated section of jeep tub/standard. But my bed design is what will make it unique.
Also my plan will be to modify existing body instead of complete cab replace like Aqualu offers
And like you said the CJ body did end 25 years ago, but there are thousands apon thousands of them out there. I see that as favorable in two ways:
First they are all older they can have severe rust issues, body damage etc. By building a cab truck you can possibly save a jeep that would be too far gone for some to build
Second using the older vehicles will be more budget freindly, you can get a CJ realitivly cheap, leaving more funds for a modification like this. Also many would not be willing to cut a TJ/JK in half they just dropped 10plus grand on or are still making payments for.
