Hey,

I'm new to jeeps, and I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Will, I have a 93 red ZJ with 195k miles. It's perfectly mint, but has a few mechanical problems that I hope to ask about once I get a sponsor and can post in the tech forum.

I'm 19 and a sophomore at ECU in Greenville. I've owned a 283 whp 1995 Eagle Talon TSi, a 1990 Eclipse GSX, and a few other pieces of shit along the way.

I'm hoping to pull and rebuild the motor, add a double din GPS/CD player, tint, 3" lift with 31" mud terrains, customize something in the trunk to conceal a rifle and/or 9mm (once I get a CWP ofcourse), maybe two sealed 8" subs, a bull bar, and finally a loudspeaker.

Any advice/anything I should know? Does anyone in Greenville do lifts? I really don't want to ghetto rig a lift. It's one thing to play with a motor, its another to play with suspension/brakes.

a stereo system wont get you home and subwoofers just take up trunk space that could be carrying recovery equipment.


welcome to the board. sounds like your really looking for an electronics forum (not that the info isnt here). Not sure what you mean by ghetto lift, as long as theres no blocks and non of the componants are made of wood you should be good to go. i'm not sure you even need much lift to fit 31's anyway. should clear fine with a little fender trimming.

Welcome.
You get a few points for realizing you need a sponsor and not posting why cant I blah blah blah...

Hang around a few days, and yous houdlnt have any problem finding a sponsor.

Have to ask why conceal a rifle?
 
I'm hoping that the 8's can fit in the doors with a little bit of fiberglass working. You do make a good point about the trunk space.

I'm hoping to conceal a rifle because I'd like a more secure way to transport it. I'm hoping to pick up an AR15. I'm hoping that if I get pulled, the policeman would think I was more responsible if I had my rifle locked up as opposed to in the trunk flopping around. In all honesty, it would be nifty to have.
 
why would you want to carry around an AR-15 on a regular basis? That sounds kinda crazy....the pistol I can kinda understand...

And if you get pulled over, the cop is probably going to think your a little strange for driving around with an AR-15 in your trunk.

And if it's locked in a bolted down box in the back, there's no need for a CHP. (which really only covers handguns anway).

:edit: A talon, an eclipse and a zj. You must be a good mechanic by now. :flipoff2:

But to each his own I guess...if you wanna keep it back there, so when your ride gets jacked and the thugs down in greenville find that shiny AR-15 and/or a nice 9mm pistol that cant be traced back to them...well you know

yeah, my first impression of him was ban material. figured i'd give him a chance though. No need to convict anyone til AFTER they commit a crime. long as he keeps by the rules on this board.

if he starts talking about how great XJs are and mudpit surfing i'll start looking for the ban hammer so i can duck in time.
 
I'm not trying to bash on the kid but how can you expect to be taken seriously when you have a user name of ilikevodka? You're underage. I know that plenty of underage kids drink and I did so myself but a public forum is not the place to be proud and proclaim your love for drinking while underage. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but oh well. I like he fact that he can read stickies and is following the rules but I just see the user name as a step in the wrong direction.

Its just a name. I tried to think of one that would be easy to remember and would stick out.

I do admit, I've had my ignorant moments. I'm not quite sure why you (raleighjeepguy) left out this part of my post:

Looking back on it, I remember what it was like to see street racers when I started really getting into drag racing and how annoying and ignorant that was. I guess trespassing in a jeep is about the equivalent.

I'm new to Jeeps. We all have to learn sometime. On that idea,
I've found out that the ZJ isn't the most popular jeep platform to build on. I replaced the crank position sensor, and my jeep runs like its new. I'm going to a local junkyard soon and grabbing a jeep dash to see how horrible cutting out a double din will look.

As for the 8" in the door, i would reconsider due to your glass rattling contantly no matter at what decible you are pushing out. As for the AR-15 Lockbox/Sub box; cant wait to see this take action. When you finish come over and lets shoot that bad boy!

LOL you can't be serious. I said he was a pita on another board and even clarified that it may just be b/c it was a college board. As for stalker prob notsomuch. I was a mod on that site for years and years and my buddy is the owner so I tend to be on it alot. My apologies if my comments got your cinnamon ring all bunched up though :flipoff2:
