I don't know if anyone on here has done this or not, maybe your kids have had it done.

After having my wisdom teeth done, I have had this motivation to really make my smile what I want it to be. I had braces when I was in 5th grade and my ortho was just a douche. He never listened to me when I told him things weren't right, he put bands on baby teeth and caused some of my back teeth to overlap when my permanent teeth came in... all in all I had a really bad experience. I now want to get that smile I've always wanted.

Anyone had any experience first hand or through your kids with Invisalign?

Any ortho's you recommend?

I have done it. Soak them in rubbing alcohol to get them clean. Otherwise they will stink after a while. I had problems with them fitting properly and eventually quit wearing them after a year.

I'm interesting too, I have some issues that a dentist should have picked up at some point in my life. My dentist now has been telling me I need them if I want them, really has me thinking.
From what I have read, its a great thing and can really wow you with the end result. I don't know anyone personally who has done it, but it seems it does take dicipline and will probably get irritating taking them out everytime you eat..but might be better than getting metal braces....

My wife is a Dental Hygienist...been one for 9 years. She had invisalign and she said it wasnt bad at all. You have to go to a couple fittings. They do the same as metal braces, move your teeth into place slowly, but you cant adjust invisalign, you have to get another measurement, and another mouth piece. But that is all included in the price. They are way better than metal braces and more comfortable. If you lived closer to Durham I could hook you up.

So you didn't go through the whole treatment?

Correct, I negotiated the price down to $5000. Then paid it up front and wore them for awhile and quit. I went through a divorce and I was told it would cost $500 to start over again with new molds that would fit better, but during that time the dentist sold that office. The new dentist would not honor that price.

My girlfriend had invisalign and went through the whole process. She's pretty happy with the end result. Also have a coworker that just started them about a month ago. So far he's happy with the changes.

Like mentioned above, you have different trays that shift your teeth slowly. I'm pretty sure that traditional braces and the invisalign were about the same price for my girlfriend.

Dammit! Me too...I know its alot of money to put out, but honestly, insurance will cover part and I can put a downpayment and then finance the rest. I think in the end, it will be worth it.

braces

Yeah, at 31 I'm not about to get metal braces. I've heard the Invisalign is more expensive though.

just turned 30 last weekend and got braces two weeks ago. honestly, not that bad. good way to lose weight!!! i got the porcelain brackets instead of the metal ones(additional $200 total) so you cant really see them as much.
