I know I may catch some chit for this...but who is excited about the new iPhone? This will be my first iPhone. I have always had an Android device and my wife has always had an iPhone and I just recently realized how much better I like the ios platform. I have an iPad already and I love using it even after 2 years of owning it.

This is my only question. My wife and I are both due for an upgrade and we both have held out since we knew a new iPhone was coming. I am going to be preordering mine Friday, but Verizon is running a deal where if you have an old iPhone, you can trade it in and get a $200 gift card towards your new Iphone 6....How would that work for preordering? Anyone ever preordered a previous model iPhone? How does it work as far as them shipping it to you? or do you pick it up in store? Are you only guarenteed to get it after its officially released? I refuse to stand in line trying to beat back a bunch of crazy people.

Not me,but its not really my thing.I never could understand how folks can stand in lines for days/weeks at a time waitin in a new phone, dont they have a job??

Seems like AAPL fawked up. When the rumor leaked that there were going to be two different size phones, everybody assumed they would be keeping the 4" format and adding a 5" screen.

Instead, they released a 4.7" screen that's the same exterior dimensions as a 5" phone, and a 5.5" screen version, just in case you wanted to make phone calls with your iPad mini. I know a lot of folks with older phones that are adamant that they like the 4" format and want to stick with it.

I'm curious to see what the battery life is going to be like, since that's really the biggest issue with their current line of phones.

Either way, I won't be getting a phone from them. I like my iPad, but I need an Android phone to do all the things that the iOS devices won't/can't do.

Never had an iphone and dont plan on getting one because I dont need all the crap that goes with it. All I need my phone to do is make and receive calls. Receiving texts are a bonus but not something I need.
Thats pretty much all I need and a good camera is a plus for me,but I do have an android.

smart phones no matter the manufactor are gonna be the down fall of this country. Ain't nuthin but de devil in my opinion. Watchin somebody hooked on a phone is akin to watchin a crack head. I myself wish they had never come out and never developed texting.I have a dumb phone and plan on keeping it that way.

What older iphone do you have? A lot of times you can sell them for more than Verizon will give you, if you have something older than a 5 though, trading it in would probably be worth it.

When you preorder direct from apple they ship it to you, if you get it ordered right when they go on preorder you will typically get it (arriving at your house) the same day that it comes out in the stores, but if you don't act quick, they will give you an estimate of when it will be to you. The 5S by the next morning was about a 7-14 day wait. You won't get it before it comes out in the stores. There will be more people upgrading on this cycle than on the 5s cycle most likely as well, keep that in mind. You maybe able to do the trade in if you preorder on verizon site. Or just wait a couple weeks until you can just walk into a store, that is what I would do. Or go by a store at like 11am and a lot of times they still have them (verizon store, not apple store)

The rumor has been for months of these screen sizes, prototype pictures have been out for a while showing these sizes. I am wondering if next year they will refresh the 5s with very slight bump in specs to keep the 4" market (however the 4" market has been a flop on android phones lately). I know a lot of people with galaxy notes that love the 5.7" screen, too damn big for me though. Battery life they claim on the 6 will be as good as the 5s, the 6plus they claim will be better (they showed some slides at the keynote of it). I think a lot more people want the 4.7" size now that all the rest of the main android phones have them and the 4" size wouldn't have sold as much if they kept that size.

It's really just because the majority of folks think that bigger is always better. I have an S4 Mini just because all the other new phones are too big and I don't like iPhones.

So the 6 will last until 4:45pm before going dead, and the 6+ will go all the way to 5:30pm.

I have the Galaxy S4 and my wife has the iPhone 4s....Verizon has a deal where if you trade in your "good working condition" iPhone 4/4s/5/5s/5c, Verizon will give you a $200 gift card....but how does that work when pre ordering? You just pay for it upfront and when you get your new phone, you trade it in then and wait up to 2 weeks before you get the gift card?

I will just be paying for mine upfront and selling my S4 on here or another local website.

So I was going to preorder mine and my wifes tonight at 12:01 a.m. through Verizon.....

Is it better to pre order through apple's website? or Verizon?

I was also reading though, is it true that you can't pre order using a debit card?

it is 12:01 PST. Will be like 4 AM here in NC. I thought the same and was going to stay up to pre-order though I have to call because I have unlimited Data on verizon, my wife upgraded to the 5s and they took her unlimited data and gave her 6gb for same price.

Either one normally works just as well as the other.

Never tried using a debit card, but most debit cards can be used like CC so I don't see the difference.

After doing some digging around. I found that most people have better luck with using the actual app store app on their apple device.

you can set up express pay and have your debit card/ credit card already in the system as well billing/shipping address. Hit buy now, enter your Apple ID password and you are good to go. No going through the checkout process.

The wife wants to go through Verizon, so Im not sure how I am going to do that with the gift card

I despise iPhones with every fiber of my being. My parents and one of my brothers have them and every time my mom asks me to help her with something on her phone I want to throw it out the window. I have an S4 and I love it.

My wife also has a couple of iPads that they use for her patients at work. They irritate both of us beyond belief. I told her to get Android tablets instead, but the people at her work talked her into getting the iPads. She keeps saying how much she wishes she got a Android tablet.

Hell, I have an iPod nano I got from my work for my 5-year anniversary and it annoys me so bad that when I exercise I use my phone for music instead.

Enough with my Apple rant. Go buy your iPhone, and don't forget your skinny jeans. :p

Oh I already have on my Skinny jeans....girls like the way it makes my butt look :)

I am constantly on my 5s every day from 7am to midnight (making calls, browsing nc4x4, jeep forum, instagram, texting). It usually needs to be put on the charger around 10pm. I am happy with it, other than the fact the fawker bent while being in my pocket. No joke, its bent to the curve of my thigh. But the plus side is its fairly easy to repair. If you break the screen on your S4 or pretty much any other phone, the whole thing has to be replaced. Thats one of the reasons I bought it. Parts are cheap and easy to replace. I will be buying something more durable next time. I am tough on phones :D

I have an Iphone 5C (company phone) and an LG G2. Previous to the LG, I had a Casio Commando. They all have their advantages. I miss the ruggedness of the Commando, but it sucked both as a phone and a smartphone. I like the compactness of the Iphone and the external switch to put it on vibrate, but otherwise the LG G2 is a better smartphone in everyway. I will say that battery life on the Iphone 5C is good, and will easily make it through a day, but the G2 will make it two days with medium usage.

I find it's like this: some people are wired to work like Apple products, some aren't. I am not. Most of the folks I know think that the software is so intuitive. They just don't make sense to me at all. Can I learn how to use one? Sure. Do I want to make that kind of effort when I can pick up an Android phone and it just "makes sense to me"? Of course not. That being said, I think they are well designed and integrate well with all sorts of things. But if they cause me grief by being, they are not for me. Thank God that we have a choice.
