Just got a new iphone 4s and was curious what all jailbreaking a iphone does?.. Mostly what im looking for is to just change my themes and some icons. Everything ive seen about custom themes or Ones made was saying you have to jailbreak your IPhone first.

If anyone has any exp. in this please fill me in.

Thanks

I thought jailbreaking was more for making the iphone available on other carriers. Like when I jailbroke my friends Iphone, since it was an AT&T phone and she had Tmobile you jailbreak it to allow it to run off other carriers towers.

My roommates droid was stolen the other day, he had US Cellular service, he changed the MME settings for my Verizon droid and now it works for that carrier.

Im sure you can d/l custom themes without having to jailbreak the phone. But I dont own an Iphone so not sure.. Youtube it and see if they have a tutorial?

jailbreaking is the term used for iphone..

'rooting' is the term used for android powered devices...

when this occurs it means the encrypted security software has been bypassed.. it gives the user the ability to use things such as 'mobile wireless hotspot without having to pay for it from their carrier..essentially it unblocks what carriers and device manufacturers have blocked.

it does void the warranty on a newer device, if they notice a raised data usage you're subject to extra fees and costs.. it is detectable whether or not you jaibreak or root and then return to normal. its still able to be detected.

hope this helps
