not to start an arguement....but BP has taken responsibility for the clean up. to get any further into this topic though..might need to go back to the garage.
 
BP has taken responsibility for the clean up to the extent that they are legally bound. The Feds capped damages at $75M, creating perverse incentives against designing fail-safe blowout preventers, doing extensive disaster planning, or generally taking adequate precautions against risk. Also, BP's responsibility extends only to the actual clean-up of oil, they're not liable for the full economic costs of the spill, including things like compensating shrimpers or fishermen for lost income.

Whatever that costs, we'll borrow from the Chinese.

Your boycot would work as you could only hope, and it punishes BP and they are forced out of business. Do you realize that means you as the taxpayer would be forced to cover the entire cost of the spill. Hell in my mind I wanna buy all my gas from BP so they have working capital to keep spending potential profits on the clean up efforts....well if not for that pesky 75M issue.
