Well, the IRS has me over a barrel. We have been working on purchasing a house for almost 3 months. We were supposed to close the deal this week but as the paper work was going thru the underwriter the IRS notified them they have no record of my 2013 tax return. I have a copy of my 13 and receipt from HR Block electronic filing. So we take paperwork to Charlotte office to get things straight. Here's where it gets shitty. They do not accept paperwork here, nor can I file electronically. They have to be sent to Kansas! When I ask how long will this take, they answered "The sooner they receive them the sooner they can be processed". What kind of answers is that? I sent the damn things a year and a half ago and they haven't been processed yet.

I knew I should have registered Democrat...

Have you talked to H&R Block?

This..

H&R Block it pretty shitty. However they guarantee their work I thought?

Did you owe or get a refund? Record of check deposited?

Have you talked to H&R Block?
Bingo, if you filed through H&R Block, this is their problem, otherwise it's lawsuit time.

HR block sent it electronically and I have the receipt. They cannot e file 2013 now, only 2014 per IRS. When I asked how this is possible, IRS says "it happens".

the IRS is such a bureacratic behemoth. i hope this lois lerner thing and the new email scandals bring it down,.

Not saying it's H&R fault, & they Should handle this for you, I haven't paid their Overpriced filings, in Years. I have used several other reputable companies, until finding the guy I'm with now.
He's a Former IRS worker, CPA, & everything else! Been with him for 10 years, at 1/2 the price of H&R.

This is not HR Block fault, it's the IRS. IRS agrees it was sent they just don't know where it is. As far as pricing I do all the real work. I hand them a single piece of paper with all the info they need and they just fill out the return and file it. I could easily do that part too but using a CPA service takes some liability away from me.

If the IRS is openly admitting they lost it, I would push to get something in writing that states that.
Then give that, the evidence that they processed the return (e.g. your statement showing your payment to them or your ceredit from refund) + your copy of your 2013 filing to the underwriter. He may be able to take that as enough to finish up the paperwork. You basically have all teh proof he needs in hand of what you made in 2013 and that it was all legit.

Either way I'd talk to the underwriter and explain everything and see what they can work with

Underwriter has to have our paperwork and the IRS paperwork match. We mailed everything next day air with signature confirmation but the IRS will still have to process it before it can go through.

The bigger PITA at the moment is my present living conditions. 90%of my house is in boxes in the middle of the living room or packed in the trailer. I have 3 cups/plates and a couple of cooking utensils. Closing was originally scheduled for July 31, then August 31, now we don't know. The first setback was lender issue so we changed lenders which put us behind.

As it stands I would imagine this will take a minimum of 3 weeks. I hope I'm pessimistic.

What is a refund? I have a cancelled check for $2600, but that proves nothing.

Actually if its processed and not cancelled it PROVES you paid H&R Block. If they didnt convey your funds to the IRS I believe they have a much larger issue on their hands.
Doesn't help your situation sitting their in boxes though to be sure.

A quality lender is the #1 priority in any real estate transaction. This should have ben caught 30 days ago. Hell my company wont even schedule a close date until they are 100% on the underwriting.

Maybe the lost tax documents are on the same hard drive as Loris lerner's emails.. You are a Republican right?:flipoff2:

Send a nice letter to your congress man and senator. They can speed up the process. This is one of the good things they can do for you. They have locally staffed offices if you want to talk to a human
