Not so many years ago, about anywhere you went, you saw signs that read "Keep North Carolina Green and clean" Where did those signs go?
Further, with the state and the power companies spraying plant killer on the road sides, and the power lines, It sure doesn't look very green any more. In fact, IMO, it's just damn right terrible looking. Add to that, these plant killers also kill out bee's. I don't think I have to remind anyone how important Bees are to the survival of everything especially, our food sources.

Every time I see everything dead on the side of the road, it just makes me sick.

Ease up Chip, today's herbicides and pesticides are SO much safer than those of the past. They target the intended pest and are not so harmful towards unintended species. To have a pesticide license you have to go to training and a lot of it lately is about bees so it's not a kill all type mentality.

Even if it's safe for the bees, it's still unsightly as hell. I'd like to see the chain gangs back and let them clear the highways and right of ways. I know it saves money spraying over machinery or mostly likely the cost in having prison workers do it. But, it sure would make a better impression to see trimmed HI ways, instead of brown ones.
 
Been quite a while back, but I remember a Big Stink about Duke spraying it's right-of-ways, & leaving all that Dead crap standing. Seems Duke was to go Back to cutting & bush-hogging. I Notice more Dead right-of-ways now too! Guess the Ash problem ate into their Budget. :shaking:

Not sure How the influx of immigrants have caused the trash? But since that Indian, the amount of commuters/vehicles, has probably Quadrupled. Pick-ups & work trucks, Must have Doubled, along with refuse haulers. Get behind any work truck, or "Dude" with Stuff in the back of his truck, & watch trash blow out! Refuse haulers, too! Amazing the trash They loose, on the way to the Dump! Even if it's only 1% of the load they have, it's Still piling up on the Road. I see American's, throw out Litter. My Yard get's it's Fair share! I was 2 -3 cars behind a Taurus 1 day, & was Flabbergasted as 1 of the guys in the back, Opened the door & threw out 1 0r 2 complete McDonald's Meals! This was 4 guys in suits, driving 35 mph., in traffic, traffic behind them & a residential neighborhood! I Tried to get close enough to get a tag #, but failed. I was So Fu ing Mad! Stopped in a convenience store for gas. Some MF dumped their full ash tray on the concrete. Three feet from the Trash can! Too MF ing Lazy to get out of the vehicle! Probably a Good thing, I wasn't there! Sorry for the Rant.:mad:
 
Not picking on any one group really, but Latino people seem to throw trash right down on the ground. I see it all the time. It is how it is where they are from. Stereotypes are not absolute I understand but I have enough observed to know it is common.
 
Yup, in many countries, as odd as it seems to us, just tossing trash on the road is the norm.

I was in Jordan a while back. That was the absolute norm. I watched a guy pull up, get out, clean out all four corners of his car and throw it in the parking lot. Nobody looked twice. It wasn’t uncommon to see people pissing in the open as well. They didn’t even try and hide it. Full on dick pointing at traffic pissing.
