I aquired an LS1 about 10 months ago and remember it turning over by a ratchet on the crank bolt pretty freely when I got it.
It's been sitting ever since...I went to bolt up the flex plate to the torque convertor and started turning it with a pry bar on the teeth to get to the bolts in.
Got one in and figured it'd be easier to turn it with the crank bolt on front.
It wouldn't budge.
I figure it might just be where it's awkward up on the work bench but then I get a buddy to hold it and try again...won't budge...even without the plugs. Tried a little oil in the cylinders as well...

So seeing as I've turned this thing at least 180degrees by the flexplate...did I mess it up?

holy crap, ive got one sitting for that lond and havnet turned it over yet either. scared to now. do you have the starter engaged by any chance? what if you take the belt off to just roll over the assembly?

possibly on the compression stroke......this will make it alot harder to turn over.

turkey baster some marvel mystery oil down the cylinders. helps on corrosion if there is any. put a pipe on ur ratchet when u try turning engine. somethings gotta give ..

You didn't pull the timing chain or do anything else to it during that time did you? Otherwise, like they said...put the big breaker to it.

That bolt you put in the converter isn't hitting anything is it?

It's fucked. I'll come pick it up and take it to the dump for ya.. :)

Im closer...

probably just a bit of oxidation or oil gum on the ring/walls....I wouldnt worry about it.

Put the big bar to it or hit a starter...

Appears to be dirt dobbers made a home in number 7...:shaking:

Looks like we're going to tear it down...unless the yard man says he'll send me another...

What's the word on basic power mods on an LS1? Hmmm...

For real? That sucks man. I'll have to check that out sometime this week.

Yeah, I would just shoot some marvel mystery oil in each cylinder, and turn it just a little bit every day until it frees up. All in all just take your time with it, and it will be fine.

cam, heads, ls6 intake

Sounds like one strong Dirt Dobber... not sure I'd want to pull the heads and fuck with him!

That back sparkplug was different from all the rest...I'm wondering if it was left out and they just stuck one in to ship it...is there enough clearence on the exhaust or intake valve for a bug to get past?

if its got a 4 inch bore i think you can get the l92 heads from gm and the hot cam, its supposed to be a good combo but then you have to get the l92 intake also
