Ok I have been thinking about something inside my head for a few weeks now and I am thinking of actually doing it if someone else thinks it a good idea.

Picture looking at a leaf spring from the side so one eye is on the left and one is on the right. At the end of each leaf could I put a spacer in like 1/4" thick to add some arch? like from poly-plastic or wood? I see the stock leaf has small round pads to decrease metal-to-metal friction, but I am wondering if a little bit of a spacer would be a good idea for an inch or so of lift.

Any thoughts guys?

Sorry if its been talked about I couldnt find anything in the search. Thanks, Connor.

It will just bend the spring where you put the spacers...

And if you use 1/8th plastic sheets, it will actually soften the spring rate and actually lower the truck. Add a leaf from another pack or buy an aal.

I did the sheets, works great.

See what happened was..... I bought 6" springs from rough country, and they came out to 8" lift springs in the front, so when I put AAL and blocks in the back, its still like a 2 inch difference sitting higher in the front. So I might get one more leaf from a truck at a U-pull-it once I see how it rides with the AALs I put on today.

Run the plastic strips in the front springs and it wil soften the ride and lower the front. Best of 2 worlds....

it didn't lower mine cause I built bastard packs. I used some marine plastic a buddy gave me. Just cut to length & width and install between each leaf.

Real smooth ride.

Your safest bet would be to use an add-a-leaf or take your overload leaf out and go to the junk yard and buy a cheap set of springs that are the thickness of lift you wanna add. Take them apart and cut the top spring about 4" shorter than your existing bottom leaf then then the next a couple inches shorter than the last and so on. Basically you'll make a new set of leaves to go under your stock pack that'll share one center pin so it adds load carrying and will be more progressive than a stock setup with an overload leaf. Plus it won't ride like a covered wagon like an add-a-leaf.

Ya thats a good idea. I think I am going to take the overload leaf out, and do what your talking about. I am going to hit up dons pull a part when I get off today and see what I can find.
