yep

all i can say is auto and take it easy....i'll wheel it..see how it does and upgrade as i break...if the 44 breaks bad it will be a 60 front.....not wasting money on a unit bearing 44

yep

that will be me...tired of wrenching on something instead of being on the trails, if at all possible, i move my rig if its broken, i don't sit in the middle of a trail waiting on someone else to fix it

oh great, I want to go wheelin with you
cause we all know how easy it is to move vehicles off of obsticals and trails when the axles blow up

That is bullshit, your lazyness and selfishness is going to ruin wheeling trips for lots of people that took the time and money to build their rigs right. And buy the fuel and tow them to the trails. And pay for camping or hotels and all that shit and end up spending their vacation sitting behind your broke ass all day. Just because you were tired of wrenching and wanted to take a vehicle that you knew was going to brake sooner or later to the trail.

It's one thing to be ignorant. And it's O.K. to brake. But what you are going to do is selfish. Knowingly taking a sub par rig onto the trails. I can't tell you how pissed I'm gonna be if I recognize you broke on the trail holding up my group.

Seems we run into more and more asshatts like you all the time.....

Just cuz he dosent wanta drop ten grand and two years into a vehicle before he even sees the trail with it dosent make him selfish. I may be wrong but the "uprgade as it breaks" philosophy is pretty common umong budget wheelers. I know thats what i do, I carry enough spare parts with me to get me home and when i have the cash I'll spend it where I need it most.

And If I happen to see him broke on the trail Ill do what I can to help...The only guy I dont want to see out there is a judgemental prick like yourself.

YEah, I'd wheel it too. MAybe be prepared to fix it though. Carry some spares and tools. The spares for those aren't too hard on the pocket since they are the lesser desired peices. Definatley get you a winch. Be safe, fab up some kinda roll bar to protect your head. Better spare tire hold down.

Guess your "magic" 715 only breaks in convenient spots where you don't hold anyone else up. Everybody breaks, so get over it. People b*tchin and whinin is what screws up my day on the trail.

I've seen your 10k pound rig with no cage..are you going to jam up the trails when you roll and squash your mellon? It would suck being behind you when that happened and the trails were all clogged waiting on them to air lift your ass out there. Geez...wheel it like it is if you're easy on it until you can upgrade, it should be fine.

Did you miss the part where I said

It's one thing to be ignorant. And it's O.K. to brake.

Everyone brakes, but if you take a rig out that you know is going to brake you are intentionally screwing up that trail for everyone that day. And that is not an accident, that is selfish.

edit- I don't take jabs like this at people broke on the trail. I know that isn't the place.

I've seen your 10k pound rig with no cage..

I don't have a 10 thousand pound rig. And my rig has a cage. I've already laid it on the cage. It held up fine, and will still get more reinforcement before it hits anything more than URE. You must have the wrong rig or are vastly exaggerating.

And the fact that you may not like me, my opinion, or my Jeep, doesn't make it O.K. to go fucking up the trails with sub par junk.

I help everyone on the trails I see that needs it. And I need it too, as does everyone. It just sucks when you spend all day helping a guy that broke his dana 35 cause he put 35's and a locker on it and took it up a class 5 trail hammering the gas. You know the feeling. You have more than likely wasted a whole Sat. helping a guy that shouldn't have been wheeling what he was where he was. It sucks....

Ok, maybe the 10k was an exaggeration, but that hoop isn't a cage, it's something to mount offroad lights off of. I've seen lots of more capable rigs roll at UNF ,that didn't think they would. My point isn't to bash your rig, I think it's pretty cool. You say you're going to add more to the cage before going anywhere other than UNF, you can break your neck there. This guy says he'll put a 60 in it if it constantly breaks. If we all whinned about other peoples rigs not being up to par, none of us would wheel that often. I won't even bother getting into why that bar ""structurally" isn't very safe.

Well thank you. If you want to bash it, thats cool too. Just take it over to the "surf and turf" thread. I've already hijacked this one :D

First of all this guy already agreed that it was gonna brake.

yup...that will be me...tired of wrenching on something instead of being on the trails

I'm not whinning about his rig, I'm whinning about his judgment. He KNOWS it's a clock ticking backwards. He's not ignorant to it.

I split off the pic and the discussion part as not to take away from his picts.

So to keep this thread productive...

Is anyones rig unbreakable ?

I think admiting you can break, isn't the same as saying your rig needs attention.. Maybe thats not the case? Yes he's running big tires for that axle, but I guess
I missed the page in the 4x4 handbook were this stuff was covered.

Mine isnt, guess i need to stick to web wheeling.. just my .02...

I have never MET or seen an UNbreakable rig...they don't exist...

My "personal" goal is to OVERbuild my rig for the trails I go to. (BTW, don't think that is gonna ever happen since Dayton is one of those...but ya know a goal is a nice thing to have)

Another question here would be can you OVERbuild for UNF and Tellico, Crackers Neck/Callalantee. Well, No...but you can build pretty well for that 'level'?

If you are running 44 locked axle...then prob stick with tires up to 36/maybe 38 or 39ish (if chromoly) but this depends on the weight of your rig, driving style, etc. Too many factors to consider.

I have taken out 'wimpy' 260 ujointed 44 axles and ujoints 2 or 3 times now on my rig, replaced with chromoly 297 ujointed axles and been ok since. (35/36inch tires) but I dont think they are unbreakable. (I have tried to be smarter about applying pressure to them when the tires are turned...)

So...nope, unbreakable rigs don't exist...

Build what ya can, bring spares...KNOW how to install them and bring the tools to do so...prob the best any of us can hope for really. (And keep your tire sizes appropriate to your level of current axles)

I like how you changed the subjects from "Old POS to play with" to Is your rig unbreakable ? and 1977 Dodge

This conversation wasn't about weather or not any rig is unbreakable when it started. It was about an "old piece of shit". Why are you changing the context of the conversation? Are you biased to someone's opinion.

I really don't give a flying rats ass about your POS or anyone elses POS. My goal here is to help MOD the forums and keep the topics headed in a healthy direction. If you don't like PM me or any other MOD and voice you opinion, else you can leave. And if you keep pissing me off, ill help you leave...

To be honest I screwed up splitting the threads and forgot the titles and i since don't generally call other peoples junk, POS (except for yours) so I called it what it was 1977 dodge...

I named this one that becasue your the only one spouting off about how he's under prepared and gonna brake.. If you have any other ideas about things around here feel free to PM me, else ill take it as you simply stiring up shit like all the other URE champs around here.

How about the mod was just doing his job, and moving the discussion where it needs to be and getting it out where pictures go.

Why so much hate?

I didn't mean to piss you off.

I didn't think I was insulting you, as you have just insulted me.

I didn't say his rig was "under prepared and gonna brake", HE DID! I said "if thats the case, DONT FUCKIN TAKE IT!

Ban me, and delete my posts, but make no mistake about why you did it.
If you can't win your side of a discussion you just ban the fucker :gay:

How about giving me a warning about what I did wrong? I guess I don't understand?
