Issue after hydro assist installation

Got as issue that has shown up after having hydro assist installed on my CJ7. For some reason the passenger side tie rod end boot has destroyed itself. It was fine until the hydro assist was installed. When cycling the steering toward the passenger side, the ram seems to be rotating the tie rod toward the front of the jeep. From what I can tell, it is basically crushing the boot and pushing it out from around the TRE. I've included some photos to see if anyone has any idea of what I might try to stop this from happening. Thanks.

From what I can see, seems to be the nature of the beast. When your ram presses out, it rolls the drag link, which in turn rolls your tie rod.
I don't use TRE's on mine, all hiems, so have not noticed that. I have also used highsteer arms instead of the stock tie rod location.
I think from what I can see from your pics it's all in your design and geometry.

At the risk of sounding dumb here. :confused: That TRE is also where the tie rod coming from pitman arm connects. If I change to heims, wouldn't I need to at least go to a flattop knuckle on the passenger side. That way I could add the highsteer arm as well as the original arm to have somewhere to connect back to?
 
Webb, I had a similar issue with mine... I ended up twisting the heims on the ram itself in opposite angles and then tightening it up... What you are basically wanting to do is keep the ram from twisting as much... If you can grab the ram and twist it a whole lot, its going to to the same to your tie rod...

Does that make any sense?
 
Makes perfect sense. I'll take a look at that this afternoon. Got any idea who sells replacement TRE boots? Thanks man, and glad you didn't have to sell the Zuk after all.
