ok ive got a 1970 cj5 its a v6(225) jeep but i just put the axles back in under it with the new lift, seals, brakes, and high steer conversion but now when i start it up and push the clutch pedel in to put it in gear it wont go in gear like the clutch isnt unengaged from the flywheel and ive removed the service cover to make shure and the fork is moving and is fairly free to travel on the shaft and with out the jeep running it will go in any gear so my guess is the clutch but does anyone else have a idea before i take it apart  thanks

about a week

Ive seen the clutch rust to the flywheel too. A week is an awful short time however...

If you have plenty of room to move it and wont run over anyone, sometimes you can "unstick" it. Start the thing in first gear, get it up to speed some, then press the clutch in and slam on brakes hard enough to lock them up. Usually that will break the rust loose. The clutch may chatter for a while until it wears the rust off the flywheel though.

Also if you did a body lift its possible that the clutch linkage needs to be adjusted/lengthened. It may not be fully releasing.

Clutch seized to flywheel is likely prob, as is maybe the body lift deal. are you sure that the release bearing is on the fork?

no body lift wish it was just a linkage thing but ive tryed useing the above idea and with no result ive adjusted all the adjustment out of the clutch linkage and i tryed with still no luck

thanks for all the help so far
