So my lil bro finnaly got his first truck today, he's been 16 for a bit we just had a really hard time finding one. Anyway its a 01 dodge 2500 6 speed, pretty nice truck already lifted 4" with some bling wheels, 35's, ranchhand grill guard, tinted windows, etc.

We've had it for bout a week without him knowing, been driving it around, dads been detailing it etc, we surprise him with it today, he gets in goes to take his first drive, gets to the stop sign at the end of our neighborhood rd goes to turn and the tracbar bracket promptly breaks off the frame :handed::lol:

I guess its just in our blood to have all our vehicles consistently break on us, at the moment all three vehicles I own are broken and undriveable too, the dodge, my jeep, and my Z71 added to the list today as well :handed:

Anyway i just figured those of you who know me and my absolutely horrible mechanical luck would get a chuckle outta this, it runs in the family :handed::lol:

I'm thinking it might be time for a Toyota, but Ricky might even be able to break that.
But then at least he can save all those SAE and even 70% of the Metric tools for his other (broken) vehicles.

I found your answer Ricky. You said it yourself...''we've been driving around for a week''.
That means YOU have been driving it. Hmmm...maybe it's you!

So, 2 dodges, a jeep, and a chevy are all broken? Have you considered getting a Ford?

Well actually I have a Ford and toyota sitting at the house that I'm supposed to be fixing/upgrading and neither have run in years, I just hardly have any time anymore to do stuff now that im working, we've been pretty busy at Fab Fours, which is good cause I can get the OT pay.

Good point, once I touched it I could have very well cursed it, sucks for Andy cause I'm the one who has to fix it whenever it breaks :shaking:

Got any pics? Sounds like a sweet truck other than the fact that the trac bar bracket is ripped off.
yea no doubt lets see the truck....

I mean its just a stock truck on 35's with a grill guard, but I can prob get some pics, I need to hurry and fix the tranny in my dually so i can throw the 36's on it, I can't have my lil bro riding on bigger tires than me :lol:

Time for a tank. Hey I think my wife may be related to yall, she likes to destroy cars too!

if i was 16 and my dad got me a 3/4 ton truck id be mad as hell and promptly sell that gas sucker for a 4 banger. there goes his lunch money :driver:

You actually think Daddy's gonna make him buy the fuel since he just bought him a $10k+ vehicle?

Andy actually paid for half of it, same thing my dad did for me with the Z71 I paid for half of it.

Dad is actually spotting him gas $$ right now thou cause he plays football and doesn't really have time for a job, I was the same way back in the day, once the season is over he'll have to get a part time job like usual.

Dodge=Dead On Driveway, Gas Everywhere

Dodge = Drips Oil Drops Grease Everywhere.

That being said, mine doesn't leak anything, nor has it had any major problems and it has 192k on the clock (01 model). Only work that has been done is I replaced the stock fuel lift pump with a FASS unit when it took a dump. The NV4500 tranny torque rating is right near the limit of a stock Cummins engine, so I have left my truck stock to avoid the transmission problems others experience when pushing the power levels beyond stock. Factory replacement parts from New Venture for the NV4500 and NV5600 are not available, and that is why rebuilt units take a dump in short order and working factory units command a higher price than rebuilt units. The best solution so far seems to be replacing them with a ZF6.

That is a pretty reasonable set up. I would likely follow that plan if I ever have a kid.

Never heard of a trac bar bracket breaking off the frame.

damn if I was paying for half of the truck I'd want to at least pick it out and not have someone hide it from me for a week
