I've busted a d35! Help

:mad: Ok, today driving to work, the center pin in the carrier broke and messed up the carrier. So now I need to find a d35 to replace it with. Though no one has one for cheap! I got a free 8.25 with the same gearing. Can I swap the carriers? I really can't afford to buy a new axle, or carrier, or use the 8.25 for a start on a SOA project. I would like a bolt on swap. If I can't swap the carrier, any suggestions to help me back to work will be greatly appreciated! - mike
 
an 8.25 is an upgrade over D35. You have an XJ? Put the 8.25 in, it's a direct swap, ratios should be 3.55. I dumped a d35 and put in an 8.25 when I put my lift on.

The d35 carrier break is 3.55 so a carrier used for 3.07's will not work. New D35 carriers are about $40 but labor to put it in may or may not be expensive.
 
Dude. I've got a YJ housing with 3.55 gears installed.

As far as I know there's nothing wrong with it. This is the one I picked up from you, Kevin.
