Japan Earthquake/Tsunami

WOW! I am thinking there will be a lot of things not available now that were made there!
I feel for those people

i have a friend in Japan. dont know where exactly. hes in the Marines. noone has been able to contact him since yesterday.... total devistation over there and fear of the unknown just pray. it truly looks like something out of a movie.

Check out the first minute here
Wow.
Wow did you see the cars running from the wave at the 0:18 sec mark?Or the guys standing on their rigs as the wave comes at them at 0:47.I can not imagine what you are thinking when that's come at you.

Very Very minor flooding in Hawaii and the port in Oregon is experiencing higher wave than usual currently.

My girlfriend's brother and sister-in-law live in Sendai. They sent out an-email with the last little bit of their cell phone battery to everyone here. It was a tense morning waiting to see if they were ok. They are, and the building they live in is still standing but they have no power or water. It's in the 30-40 degree range there this time of year. They're going to try to stay in their apartment but may end up in a shelter. At least they weren't near the coast when the tsunami hit.

thats just insane. heard from my buddy and hes ok! he was out at a bar came home and passed out. didnt even know anything was going on til he wake up from his drunken stuper...... typical for him.

Likely, he's stationed on Okinawa (99% of all Jarhead presence in "Japan" and long way from the mainland) and they got nothing outside of surf recession/swell for a few minutes...

On the outside chance he's stationed on the mainland, they had evac orders well in advance, so should be perfectly safe. However, they (American Military) were probably turned into caregivers/ditch diggers following the storm & might not access to comm gear needed to give the "all's well" back to the states...

Give it a few days

EDIT: Oops! Just saw he's fine

your right about all of the above!!^^

Total destruction. All I could think of while I watched was how much crap will end up in the ocean... and eventually in our food

Ive thought about that as well! So much stuff drifted out to sea. Not to mention I think they lost control of their Nuclear reactor and they are handing out Iodine pills to the people so there may be radiation leaking out into the ocean as well.....

my family is from Sendai. so far there are no communications coming out of sendai and i dont think we are expecting good news when it does start coming out.

My grandmother still has not reached her family in sendai. they live in the mountains though. we hope to hear from them soon.

It should actually make diesel prices go down, but doubt that will actually happen.
It might go down for a little while but once they start cleanin up fuel w be back up.

well..think about this...we now have an entire world scared of nuclear energy.....what do you think thats gonna do to the price of fuel oil?
