I thought this was interesting and forwarded the link to my dad. He actually bought that same one 2 or 3 years ago and it didnt work for his application. He said it is great for dark cast pieces like in the video, but the scanner isnt worth two cents when scanning really shiny materials like reflective metal and plastic. The scanner actually said there were holes in the parts where there weren't any. It also took somewhere around 30 minutes to scan something. It is still neat though, but it is not the end all, do all which it doesn't claim to be. He is still wanting to buy a 3D printer but he ended up sending the scanner back. Great for car parts, bad for the type of automation equipment he works with.
