It's like liquid duct tape, but better, can be used effectively to seal a cracked or weeping tank on a radiator, and will last a long time.

Keep in mind, where ever you apply said JB Weld, it's gonna stick, and stick well, and hold together anything else it gets on.

When applying to radiator, refrain from also coatin fan shroud and lower radiator hose as those parts may need to be removed some day (today).

The extra 45 min to remove the fan from water pump because shroud could NOT. Be removed are direct bill hours, the 15 min to remove lower hose, yes, that's billable too
Keep in mind, the $1200 radiator replacement is inevitable if you plan to keep (and use) the machine for any length of time.
Oh, and remember, I still have to install fan after water pump replacement, should be done by end of day.

This has been a public service announcement.

You got it on your hootus didnt you?

No quote, just fix it, the best kindo_O

Water pump finally mounted, going after the fan now, this is gonna be fun:handed:

Yes. As frustration level grows, so do " time outs"

Ahhh the life of a lift truck technician, aint it just wonderfull!

the best part.... I get to do it all again !

the new water pump is leaking from the rear plate, not something I had messed with other than checking tightness of the bolts. N serial numbered Yale, I think it's a Mazda engine. one huge casting with lower hose tube welded to bottom, of course it's not in the correct position, I had to dent the tube to clear front cover bolts
This fucking thing was fighting tooth and nail, went to put the fan and pulley ( w/spacer) back on, new flange is threaded 1.25, old is 1.50, fortunately I have Toyota bolts on my van, cut to length and done. I don't generally fuss about what I'm working on, the JB Weld pissed me off, and the idiot that did it was all proud of himself:flipoff: ( apparently done in the last 3 weeks )
second time is a charm I guess. :poop:

Would you rather it be an old C500 clark, oh, and I hope you didnt get a starlift (total source) water pump for it, want last for 6 months and usually ill fitting. I know youre pain brother!!!

OH HELLS NO !

heh.... of course thats what was ordered, I have little control of that for the most part, fortunately this lift only gets about 200(rough)hrs a year

Can you not condemn the jb weld and some kind of deterioration, unworkable BS and make them replace the shroud?

I can't make them repair anything, I can't lock it out without authorization from owner, just highly recommend in writing that machine should be removed from service and get a signature by owner

if it were one of our rental or leased machines, totally different story.

As much as I love JB Weld, I really hate JB weld. Can't tell you how many cars I have come through my shop with JB welded radiators. I just finished replacing the radiator in a 2003 WJ that the guy JB welded the upper snout back on to the radiator. I don't know how it got knocked off, but he made damn sure he got it back on!

I didnt say that right...

What about just saying . Sorry I cant remove the water pump without destroying the fan shroud. SOmeone JB welded the fan shroud to the radiator, when I pull it apart its probably going to break and need to be replaced.

Yeah, I could have done that, and if it had been a particularly troublesome customer probably would have. I tend to try a little to hard to make things happen, get things done that others would pass over. Sometime it kicks me in the ass, other times I usually get more work or at least an "attaboy" :huggy:

I do know I'm the "go to" guy when it needs to get done, which is sometimes a bit overwhelming, but it's what makes my job fun ( most times )

Currently sitting in a parking lot waiting for the lunch hour to be over so I can go install a data terminal on an electric lift. Seems no one else wanted to or knew how to do it, it's not rocket surgery:lol:
