Anyone order anything from them? They claim to have the best turnaround times, but I ordered a bumper kit from them 9 days ago and it still hasn't shipped. It's only some laser cut steel plates that I have to weld up myself. I would think they could be cut in no time. Not bitching, actually yes I am because I would have hated to order an actual bumper that they had to weld up.

Naw I havent called. I'm really not terribly worried about it I just thought that it would ship sooner than 9 days. I'm sure it will be out soon but surely it didn't take them over a week to see that I had ordered something

What is their stated lead time?

I get a chuckle out of a lot of these lead time threads, I sell a product that regularly has 40+ week lead times. We state that up front and customers dont complain.

If a lead time isn't stated, you should have no expectation.

Maybe they dont fire their plasma/laser/water jet up but 2 days a month...
More likely they contract out to job shops that have min quantities and they wait until they meet that quantity to send the order to their vendor.

Just a friendly reminder that I suspect there are no less than a half dozen vendors here who could have made that bumper for you and you'd have it by now.

You probably saved a dollar the route you went. No hard feelings there, just understand that dollar has a cost and in this case that cost is time.

I don't think I saved much @ $350 for some steel plates that I have to weld myself. There's one place in particular I was going to get a bumper from in Mt. Airy NC that will remain nameless, but I have heard stories of bad/lack of communication.

Slow shipping drives me crazy. I sell a ton of stuff on eBay and I ship next day....always. I work a full time job and sell parts on the side, and I always find the time to ship in at most one day. Of course, I did recently forget to ship something to a NC4x4 brother for a few days..........

I ordered a new carb off of eBay for my new truck. Bought it last Wednesday. Saturday there was still no tracking so I sent them a "hey, what's up" email. Didn't hear anything until Monday when they said they would ship it out no later than Tuesday. This morning I sent them another "so, what's up" email and they finally shipped it. Slow shipping on eBay irritates me. It isn't like you had to pull it off the car or rebuild it. It is a brand new carb sitting on your shelf. I could have pulled an entire engine, palletized it, and had it sitting on your doorstep in less time than it took you to ship me a carb that is sitting in a box on your shelf.

I have ordered 3 bumpers from them over the last 5-6 months and many products over the last few years.... There turn around time is ok..not super fast but far from super slow.Normally I get the bumpers within 15-20 days. I think they say /semi guarantee within 24-28?

Most of the bumpers I believe they assemble by order only to save on product sitting around on shelf.
I'm pretty sure there wait times are clearly listed on the site.

I have never had one problem with them and the one or two issues I've seen with there products from people over the years were resolved lightning fast....some of the best prices on quality armor in the business in my opinion

The guy in Mount Airy is on here... Last I heard he was too busy with his family and full time job to focus on bumpers like he was before, but I also heard he will be picking back up soon. Several friends running his products and for the price ya can't beat it. But I had several friends who had a bad experience with wait time.

I have never ordered from JCR, so I can't speak on them. I usually try to buy used stuff or stick to local shops for fab work because I like to talk to the guy whos making my products.

On another note, the guy in mt airy also has another full time job, a wife, 3 kids under the age of 5, yep he is slow. But he does build a nice bumper for an even better price. I am personal friends with this guy and if I were him I would've sold my welder a long time ago from the headaches that he's dealt with on impatience. He has invested a ton of cash lately on equipment to help speed up the process but with life priorities and family he still doesn't have time to make it in the shop.

I had the Mt. Airy bumper on my XJ that now belongs to a good friend. Also have 4 other friends running his bumpers. First few bumpers were quick and on time. Last round I ordered a front and rear for friends. It took 3 months, and we didn't get them until my friend actually got fed up and rode up there to ask him what the heck was going on. As mentioned before he had changed jobs, lost his help to out of town jobs an relocating, and had a ton of family stuff going on. He finally made right on the deal. It was irritating cause I had paid up front and then he just stopped communicating all together. I honestly think if my friends hadn't went there I would have never heard from him again.

That being said, I understand life gets busy. Just wish he'd picked up the phone and been honest and explained to me the situation. The guy does killer work at unbeatable prices. I really hope in the future he gets his stuff back up and going. I really really like his work.

Nobody is faulting Chris for being a good family man and husband... But if you want to run a business you do need to pick up your phone or at least return calls from customers who have already paid for a product, at the very least offer them a refund if you are unable to deliver. If the shoe was on the other foot and you were the customer, and didn't know him personally, I am certain you would have been raising hell too.

The women Phillip is talking about is a mutual friend, and I know her to be a very patient and understanding person, so I am sure if he actually made an effort she would have been very courteous.
However it does seem as though if she had not gone to see him, she would have waited much longer for the product and may not have ever got it depending on how well he kept record of sales.

I wish him the best of luck with his business and his personal life, but at this time I can't say I would risk doing business with him again.

I recently ordered a bumper from jcr. From the day I ordered to about a week later I had the bumper. Then a couple days after that, they called to make sure I was happy. Can't beat that...

They won't do anything custom though, I wanted to order a grill hoop kit, but just 1" higher than normal and they said no.

i didn't want to act like i was hounding him, but it has been just shy of a year.

Sorry bout that Lee. I stopped by your shop after I got off work today but you were already gone. It wouldn't fit in the drop box so I set it on the ac unit. I don't like to have a bad rep with people, I'm just forgetful.

That was a good one though you got me on that. On another note the tracking updated this morning and the bumper is supposed to be here tomorrow. So I retract all previous statements. I was just being impatient.

Michigan??
