JEEP 242 TRANSFERCASE TO 231???????

I have a 2000 xj w/ the 242 case in it. Was wondering if I could swap it with a 231j case. The 242 has the extra 4 wheel part time on the gear selection. I am not looking to modify to make it work just direct bolt in.Thanks.

It's super easy Jason. As long as the input shaft is near the same length and spline count, you'll be fine.
Measure the distance the 242's input sticks out past the seal and compare that to the 231.
I have an XJ 231 needing some work, lemme know if I can help ya out.
