Jeep 4.0 block cracks.

Got my block to the machine shop over the weekend. Machinist called me today and had found two small hairline cracks around a head bolt hole. Has anyone seen this. He said it's pretty common in some of the late model blocks. Thoughts anyone. What sucks is I took it to another shop in Burlington and had it baked cleaned and magnafluxed. Guy in Burlington didn't catch it.

He said it goes a couple of threads down on one side only. Anyone here with a bit of 4.0 machining experience?

Ok I think I have a plan to fix. Time sert with head studs. Now does anyone have a 1/2 13 time sert kit I can borrow. Willing to give a deposit equal to the cost of the kit.

Yea. Got about 600 in this one since the first machine shop screwed up on the magnaflux job.

Isn't finding a new block the safe way?

Yeah, no kidding, I wouldn't go through the trouble of doing something like that when a block is so cheap. Hell, I have a good running 02 TJ motor that has bad bearings (low oil pressure when warm) that I'd sell you for $200, complete longblock. Block is in great shape.

Did you say you have $600 in the 4.0L block?

Yea. 400 for complete 4.2 and 4.0. 320 for magnaflux bake and clean then I dropped another 350 to get the supposed good block milled and bored
