Jeep 4.0 lifters

Trust me buddy. Prime the oil pump exactly like I said in my original reply. I have done it literally hundreds and hundreds of times and it works.

I definitely will. Your instruction in setting the dizzy fell into place.

Sorry, Remove the valve cover and as you spin the pump you should see oil coming out around the lifters. Its pretty easy to do since the motor is out of the jeep.

It's back in now, but I can pop the cover off.

You don't really need to pop the valve cover off. When you prime it with a drill, you will know when the pump is primed as it will get noticeably more difficult to spin.
You could continue to spin the drill a while longer as that will introduce oil to the top end as well. But in all reality, as soon as it fires and it pumping oil, the valve train will get an oil bath quickly.

You could also just look in thru the oil cap opening. You can see the middle rockers, but like Jody said you'll know when it picks up oil.

Oh, and to add an important point that Jody forgot to mention:

When spinning oil pump with oil filter loose, turn the shop radio down so you will hear the oil gushing from the loose filter.
