Hey guys!

I'm new here! I just bought a 2000 Cherokee sport with a small lift. It's my first jeep so I know very little about them.
Anyways it is occasionally throwing a 3rd cylinder misfire code. Seems to be running ok though. No rough idle that I can tell. And after a while the light just goes off. I'm a decent parts changer but no good at diag. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my daily driver and I can't afford for it to be down.

Thanks!!!!

my 01 wrangler runs from p0300 thru 0306 and I don't tell anything.Been doing it for years and I bought a cheap reader to just check the code and then clear it.When inspection time comes,I get it done early in the month and not waite till the last minute to get it done. Just live with it. It's a jeep thing.

Thanks guys.

Im not sure of the actual code. I can check next time it happens.

Is there any real damage that can occur? Anything else I should watch for?

Check plug wires, plugs, & cap. Could be heat soak caused as well (mine heat soaks on warmer days after a hard run, shut down for a couple minutes and restart... Rough as a cob for a few minutes till the injectors cool back down to where they are not vaporizing fuel)

So I think it is a heat soak issue. Ran great the few days it was cold but had a decent drive today and it happened.

Is there a way to solve the heat soak issue?

Aluminum foil or heat reflective wrap around the fuel rail helps as well as the OEM heat shield that mounts on the intake that 4.0s had after about 2001
