jeep 4.0 starting, running issues

93 wrangler, 4.0 manual trans. just started this today, go to crank it, just spins over, but if i pump the gas, then it starts, and runs rough, until i give it more gas, then it clears up, but you can notice a roughness in the idle. any suggestions.

have you changed the fuel filter lately? You may even got some bad gas. Did you get gas in the past day or so?

i did almost run it out of gas the other day, so got gas then, i will change the filter tomorrow just in case, cheap insurance.

My cherokee did that when the battery was weak
Charged the battery and have not had that problem any more...

changed fuel filter, new gas, checked all of ignition good. after it sits a while, have to pump gas to start. any ideas.

whats your fuel pressure?

running through any water latly? TPS... if not then check and make sure none of the injectors are leaking. and if they've never been swapped out you may want to look into these...

ok, the injectors are original, 110k on them, and i will check the fuel pressure to see, and check the injectors for leaks. so if i have to replace the injectors, should i go with stock, or upgrade to something else. thanks

Fuel pressure should be 30 psi key on engine off . there is a check valve in the fuel pump assembly that goes bad and causes a hard start / long crank time in some jeeps
