SO I've got an 01 grand Cherokee that wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear, well now it won't shift out of 1st gear.. looking for someone that can tell me how to make this thing shift.. I don't care if it involves bashing the computer with a hammer and permanently manually shifting it, I don't care if it ever goes into over drive .. but 1st 2nd and 3rd would be kinda nice.. anybody got any ideas🤔 i haven't yet been able to get it to pull any transmission related codes

How many miles are on that poor Jeep? I was under the impression the 42RE is a wear item that you replace every 100k miles.

For real though drop the pan and see if there is anything you can qualitatively assess as broken. Otherwise you are half way to dumping old fluid and putting in fresh ATF4 fluid.

Odometer shows 252k. Trans fluid is clean.. I'm fairly convinced it's an electric issue since it doesn't slip. It just doesn't shift at all. It had 2nd last time I ran it.. now it doesn't even have 2nd

Could be a failed governor pressure solenoid and transducer. Could also be a mechanical issue. A pressure gauge will allow you to diagnose it or a trip to a shop to accurately diagnose it may be a good idea.

Have a friend that's a jeep tech at a dealer that mentioned the transducer also, it's just a toy so I don't wanna throw a lot of money at it. But if i can fix it cheap I will. Thanks
