Alright I know we have some Jeep buffs here.

Is anyone SURE whether or not a 258 and a V8 (304/360) share the same bellhousing pattern?

Not to be rude, but please don't post: "I wouldn't think so" or "Maybe" I am looking for anyone who is 100% sure either way...

Thanks!

I'll offer a 1 beer reward for correct info

They are the same. I moved a TF999 from my 88 YJ (258) to a 360 for my Commando...Put a TF727 on a 304 for another Commando. Then sold the 727 and put on a TH400, got another 999 off a 304 and put it in the YJ...They are all the same...

they are all the same. 258, 304, 360, 401, 4.0L. the only issue is the CPS on a 4.0

thanks everyone

This is what I was thinking, but have had a couple people tell me it wouldnt work....now I have a solution

All AMC/Jeep V8's and sixes after 1972 share the same bellhousing pattern. Some time b4 then the sixes were different.

Verified. Same. Been there done that.

here is another positive on the same question

a nv3550 bellhousing, from a TJ will bolt up to a 258, 304,360, and 401 from 1972 and up blocks

same goes for an ax-15 used in YJ's and Cherokees

I was running a stock 304, nv3550 overdrive 5 speed, and a dana 300 in my CJ for a while

very sweet combo
