My wife and I are looking forward to hittin' the beach when it warms up a little. We wanna camp and maybe try to catch a drum. Any suggestions on when and where to go?

Last time I was down there, I saw people camping at Carolina Beach. Though I just can't see the fun in it. Wind, sand blowing, I can't imagine a good nights sleep, I would think sand would get into every cevis.

Oregon Inlet.

Bass are running now also. On the sout side of the inlet, sound side, is the best for bass. Wade out to chest deep, case into the channel.

Always had lots of luck doing that. Lots of stripers out there on the ocean side at the end of the jetty.

Drum, well, I never really went for any drum, so I can't help ya there. I imagine there are some out there though.

Nah, it's pretty nice. Carolina can get a bit busy, but it's quieter after Labor Day. Set your tent up close to the high tide line and fall asleep to the crashing waves.

If your vanaynay gets sandy, just go for a swim.

Drum usually return w/ a vengence in April. Its waders and striper time now. The worse the weather the better.

the $40 i spent on my carolina beach year pass was the best $40 i've ever spent on my jeep

i camp about twice a month... great time. bring l=plenty of wood, beer, and friends! what more could you possibly want?
