i will preface this by saying that i am not a professinoal fabricator, but we all like to try our best. i helped a friend build up his cherokee, and here are some crappy pictures.

swapped a d60 rear, d44 front with custom 4 link. he wanted it tall, so well, he got tall, not my preference, but it isnt my rig. 9 inch rusty coils front, 6 inch springs rear with a 1 inch block.

like i said i am no professional and dont try to act like one, so criticize at will.

everything, yes everything was built with 3/8 wall. the bridge, the crossmember, and uppers and lowers. i agree, way to heavy, but he bought a 22 ft stick and wanted to use it up, we had 7 feet left when we finished. let me know what you think, and be nice:flipoff2: all tabs are 1/4".

uppers are ~28" and lowers are ~39" johnny joints on the lowers and at the axle end of the uppers, and bushings at the frame end of the uppers. moved the axle about 1.5" forward.

driveshaft is on its way, it is going to be a tight fit, but i think we got it.

runs down the road very well, i missed the castor a little, but it drives pretty well for a rig on 39.5's.

he does some simple stuff, like uwharrie, or trail riding on private land, but nothing very serious. he likes to drive on the street.

DId y'all lock or re gear the axles or did Jason want them stock w/ 4:10's? It should look sweet once his interior is completely replaced. I guess not everything is meant to be used though.

i wanted him to hack the fenders and run bushwackers or something, but he likes it up higher, and i agree, it looks good, and it is a clean sweet jeep.

he left the 4.10's for now, and it runs pretty strong. if he sells his tj frame, we will put in 4.88's

thanks mang, hows the new project coming?

Been way short on cash and time since daughter #2 arrived.....Im about to get busy on it soon though........Have you guys taken the Jeep out yet?

with as tall as those axle truss/hoops are you may wanna think about adding some other method of bracing...as they are, id say they have a fairly large amount of leverage acting on them
looks good otherwise, very clean

can a bushing be too small? they are factory leaf spring bushing fitted into tubing.

ridefast you mean the height of the bridge? it is taller than i wanted but i opted for clearance. bracing is always good, but i dont get where you mean. if you mean on the bridge itself, i agree, it couldnt hurt. give me a suggestion.

ok....sorta hard to explain without a drawing, but here goes

looking at the axle from the side you have the brace/truss going vertically

with the links on the right side (looking at it from the drivers side), the forces are pushing against the truss in the leftward direction, make sense?

well with as tall as the truss is, the forces are increased because of the added height....to combat this, you could try adding a counteracting force, in this case, tube

the easiest way to do this would be to bend up a couple 90 deg bends and attach them from the axle tube to the truss tube [basically goin from the 6:00 position to the 12:00, (again, you are looking at it from the drivers side, the 6:00 being the axle and 12:00 being the truss)]

sorry, got a bit wordy....make sense though?

are the front lower control arms not in the way of the front drive shaft? i noticedd that it was kinda missing.

it is going to be tight, but with a cv shaft it should work pretty well. if not, well raise the t-case skid a smidge...
