Jeep CJ5 4.2l

Is there a reason you want fuel injection. You could look into to doing propane instead if its a trail rig.

I did it with the Mopar MPI kit, it was expensive but well worth the price. It could be done with mostly 4.0L junkyard parts, you would need to buy a special damper and crank sensor from HESCO (link).
Swapping on a GM TBI is also fairly common, can be done with either aftermarket kits or junkyard parts....google it

This should give you a good start...

I had a YF on my 79 with a 232. It was a 1bbl intake manifold. I swapped in a 2bbl intake manifold to accommodate the TB. If you go that route, be aware that there are two generations of intake manifolds - cast iron (up to 1980-ish) and aluminum (81 and beyond). If you have the cast iron one and you swap in an aluminum one, you must also swap the exhaust manifold and vice versa.

F.A.S.T. makes a stand alone Fuel injection. Howell makes a kit also, using mostly GM pieces. Have also read about compleate 4.0 head swaps for more power. I am looking at F.A.S.T or Howell kits for my 258. good luck!

ok 300$, i am listening.....

The "what we did" links are both posted above, so I'll give you the rundown on the cost.
*MINE* was a little over $300 (replaced entire fuel plumbing & replaced several of the sensor plugs) and Taters was under $300...

$100 - Complete TBI system from a junkyard... TB, air cleaner, fuel lines, wiring harness, ECM, O2, dizzy(for the EST), knock sensor, coil, MAP sensor, ESC, relays... *everything remotely acquainted with the TBI system*
$30 - 3/4"x12"x6" AL stock for TB-manifoldadapters from McMaster-Carr (made both adapters from this pc)
$25 - TB "rebuild" kit (includes new base gaskets)
$35 - fleabay variety E-2000 "Ford" fuel pump
$25 - assorted fuel plumbing parts (FI hose, FI clamps, new pre-pump filter, nylon-steel line couplers, etc)
$25 - assorted wires, solder, heat-shrink, split loom
$25 - assorted general misc (makes the math closer :flipoff2:)
$25 - ZIF socket for ECM from Moates (5 second chip swaps) & entire sleeve of 27SF512 chips (will hold multiple & selectable tunes if you'd like) shipped from mainland China (qty of 18... have a dozen left)
$3 - HELP! variety "Spark Plug Anti-Foulers" (14mm sockets to weld in exhaust for O2 sensor)

$293 total...

The cost of the AL plate & anti-foulers was shared, as there was enough to do both.
The ZIF socket/upgraded chips can be nixed if you'd like (IMO, the OE chips/carriers are of the Devil himself & I *refuse* to dance!)
Does not include the Moates BurnII I bought just to be able to quickly erase/burn the upgraded chips ($100) or the beer consumed during the swaps! :D

We now share an ammo can of TBI "spares"... fuelpump, ECM, spare chips (w/ our individual tunes), netres/"limp home" chips (specific for 6 or 8 cylinder), fittings, connectors, EST & ESC, coil, relays, FI hose/clamps, etc that can be thrown in either rig...

Cavers is good too. I just already have the 4.0 head so an intake swap would be easy.

I just did a complete rebuild on my 258. When I did it I put in a comp cam, offenhauser intake, Holley 390 4bbl and headman headers. Price didn't co e out to 1200 and the power gain was awesome!!!! Dialed in this was well worth the money.
