Jeep Dealership F*$%ed me

Well, to be honest, I am still fuming mad over the whole situation. I was trying to get to the point where I could calmly talk to the service manager in person and see how they were going to hanlde it.
I was getting ready to go on a long trip, so I checked all the fluids, tire pressures, etc. IMAGE my surprise (ok ANGER) when I open the radiator and don't see antifreeze. No huge deal, grab the antifreeze and start pouring....and pouring....and pouring. $#%%^()$ it took a half a gallon. I do notice rusty looking deposits on top of the *new* radiator. I started the engine to let it draw in the coolant and empty the rest of the gallon of antifreeze to fill the radiator. I turned the engine off and saw antifreeze leaking from where the resivoir hose meets the radiator all over the top of the radiator. I go to tighten the little clamp...except, there is none. Luckily, I discovered this AFTER the service department was closed. I drove up there and spoke with the service manager in person. I told her after my last experience I would rather push my Jeep 100 miles than return there for service but they needed to fix the issue. I got the whole line of how they stand behind their work, take pride in their reputation, all that jazz. They agree to take a look at it. Though, she was not at all concerned with my bad experience that caused me to never want to return.
Their verdict was it was due to a bad radiator cap (funny how this miraculously failed only after they did the work, which as you recall was never supposed to be done in the first place) and that there is 'not supposed to be a clamp on that hose since there is no pressure on the system there' - despite the fact that antifreeze flows freely around it and there is a clamp on the other end of that very same hose. To be exact, a gallon of antifreeze over 500 miles of travel since the repair. They replaced the cap and clamp and sent me on my way.
To the person that asked about the shop in Aberdeen, yes I live in the Sandhills, but had the work done at a Jeep dealership out of town. Any recommendations on a good repair shop in the area?

Jeep dealer tech chiming in for ya.
Rear pinion seal warranty time is 0.5 hrs. Customer pay/aftermarket warranty time is 1.0 hrs.
Tranny to t case adapter seal time under warranty for MOST Jeeps is 1.2 to remove and reinstall case, 0.2 hrs for each of the seals. That makes 1.6 hrs total under factory warranty. Customer pay/ aftermarket warranty time would be approx 3.0 hrs.
Let me know if I can ya out any more. If you give me year and model info I can get you specifics if needed.
Jody
Got your PM. The warranty times I posted were dead nuts correct.
You will have needed 1 rear pinion seal, 1 transfer case front input seal and a transmission extension housing seal.
I have done each of these repairs hundreds of times.

X2 I just checked the times also I'm a Dealership tech for Hendrick Chrysler Jeep in Fayetteville.
You're confusing a factory warranty with an aftermarket warranty. The dealer doesn't know for sure they're getting paid, and they're not giving up their bargaining chip until they are paid in full.

YOU, the customer are responsible for the entire repair bill. You have a third-party warranty, ok, great. but if that company refuses to pay, guess what, it's still YOUR responsibility to pay up, and then you can take it up with the warranty company.

Dem's the breaks with an other-than-factory warranty. The title of this thread should be "My third-party warranty company fucked me"
Couldn't have said it better
If your getting an aftermarket service contract check it out before you buy it, we have customers who think there aftermarket warranty will cover most components then they have a problem and find out the hard way the contract they bought will used junkyard parts to repair there vehicle or refuse to pay a dealership directly and make the customer pay in full the get reimbursed at a later date or get denied reimbursement because of some loop hole they have written into the contract.
The contracts we sell our customers covers most everything that a factory contract covers and then some.
Service contract = deductible, Factory warranty = no deductible. Aftermarket service contract(warranty) = consumer gets screwed.

Unfortunately, he is wrong. We never get our DM (district service representative) involved unless it is a case that requires a major component replacement or a higher level of tech assistance from DC's tech headquarters.
The warranty is not flagged by the dealership. Only the DM or DC themselves can do that. We may make a phone call to get the ball rolling in the case a wrecked vehicle needing accident related repairs or HEAVILY modified vehicles needing warranty coverage on a component DIRECTLY affected by the mods.
Just clarifying to help anyone out.
You guys get to see or even hear from your rep, I have not seen our DM in almost 2 years.
